Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

Alright guys, the time for locking this thread has come, can you all please use the Folding Community Board for all further talk.

Thank you all again for participating in the event.

Once the sheet is cleaned up I will edit this post to add the link to the spreadsheet.

@TVwazhere Can you please lock this thread for me.

I'd say try to disable the cpu slot (in configuration - slots - select the cpu one and remove it) and go to full power again perhaps.

Is credit like the point I get? Because in that case, CPU folding doesn't quite seem worth it..

Yeah. GPU folding is much more efficient. Most people just do GPU and delete the CPU slot. You can right click the CPU slot and tell it to finish which will pause it once it finishes the work unit it's currently on. Then you can just delete the slot from the configuration menu without counting as a failed work unit.

THanks bro, I run my gt1030 all night, today I will try to get my vega 64 working in a KVM.

And my mom was staying with me this month, and in the morning she is like "THis room is so warm I can do yoga in it."

I think she hasn't figure out it was my PC that kept it warm, otherwise Im ded, she will toggle the power switch

Ah I see its for Linux.. Im running Windows so suppose it wont work.

Did find the wattage used within HWinfo tho, so going of that its about 190W+55W for cpu.

It will work under windows - you just have to use the fully-qualified path as outlined or be in the same directory or create a shortcut.

Run JUST the 1030 and it'll keep the room slightly warm, but not bad.  That card uses roughly 50 watts at peak outputs from what I'm looking at (TDP listed as only 30W which is more normal gaming load draw), so not much more heat than a normal incandescant light bulb.  If you're also folding on the CPU, most of your heat is coming from that.  You can also slightly undervolt to keep the card even cooler, and you'll still get over 90% of the folding power.

Does anyone know what the performance difference is for x1, x4, x8 and x16 lanes? I know that on x1(usually with PCIe Risers) it is not worth folding, but what about x8 and x4? I plan on building folding rig(s) but I do not know if I should go for few systems or one high-end system with 3-4 GPU's. Does anyone have a perfect solution for me?

Also, I'd like to know what you guys(@catawalks, @Cbwgoose, @miker07, @GOTSpectrum, @Den-Fi, @Gorgon) are using(full setups: GPU/Mobo/CPU).

I'd use it for folding since I have a few PCIe slots and lanes open but I do not think it is worth for you to send it to Serbia. ?

I am actually running 4 old machines that are 4700K's with no video cards. I also have 1 machine that is a 9700K with a 1080ti. They are all running on Full, 24 hours a day. I have noticed my electric bill is a a bit higher than normal. LOL.

i gotta be out the house by 11 tomorrow morning and i'm hoping to have eeked out another 2m or so by then. unfortunately @catawalks and @Cbwgoose are gonna pass me while i'm away but i'm holding them back as long as i can - despite being massively overpowered in terms of consistent ppd output lol

my overall PPD is kinda lame - recently it's gone up to about 1.8mppd but usually it's about 1-1.2 - my burst PPD on the other hand is plenty high enough

That is a pretty good set up. Great job!

3.5M 7days average with 5 CPU's and 1 GPU? God damn it... That is nice.... Are they overclocked?

How much PPD does each CPU produce?

Unzip the 2080 drivers to a folder on your PC, then go to device manager and manually point the update drivers utility to that folder. It can get fucky but I managed to get a 1660 Ti, 1050 Ti, 1050, and 660 all going at the same time, though I then borked it after I clean installed windows.

I will try to run some more WU's on my CPU for now, will run some numbers to see how efficient and such it is, but will likely just go GPU fold mostly this month!

Main reason i'm posting though: does ubuntu's "try ubuntu" thing allow you to install programs? like say... folding@home? (installer was giving me troubles, and if i don't have to deal with it, that'd be prefered.)

alright, so after a bit more overclocking and voltage regulation i get about 1.1M PPD out of my Vouwfabriek server and about 1.7 to 2M PPD out of my main rig.

somehow i feel like my Titan is underperforming. it runs 2Ghz on the core and almost 10Ghz on the memory, but i get barely 1 to 1.4M PPD out of her.

oh well, no more finetuning for a while, right now stability is key!
