AOC’s Agon Monitors with 0.5ms Response Time & 240 Hz Refresh Now Available

FatherChaos

Whoa 0.5ms (MRPTS) Response time is this a marketing gimmick? Is there anyway for us to test the Grey to grey to see if that improved?

OC’s Agon AG251FZ2 and Agon AG271FZ2 displays are based on 24.5 and 27-inch TN panels featuring a 1920x1080 resolution, 400 nits brightness, a 0.5 ms MPRT response time, a dynamic refresh rate of up to 240 Hz with a 48 Hz – 240 Hz FreeSync range over DP and HDMI, featuring low framerate compensation (LFC). See exact specs in the table below.

GtG represents how long it takes for a pixel to change between two colors.
MPRT represents how long a pixel is continuously visible for.

When you need to 0.5ms tryhard over the next guy.

That's one way to look at it. I keep reading AOC as RCA when the context is television or monitors.

Why in 2019 when we have powerful yet cheap GPU and great quality 1440p144hz or alike monitors out there using VA/IPS, are these awful image quality 1080p TN panels are still a thing for CS:GO Pro's wannabes?

You Answered your own question" 1080p TN panels are still a thing for CS:GO Pro's wannabes". I have been tainted with 240hz, when there are VA/IPS with a 240hz Refresh rate I will switch.

Is there any appreciable difference from 144Hz to 240Hz? The 0.5ms MPRT response sounds like a gimmick though, it doesn't take into account for overall pixel response, or monitor input lag, and it makes no sense to me when you also have to add in response time to click the mouse, and latency if you're playing a multiplayer game.

These are still a thing mostly because marketing I assume, IMO these are overpriced as you can get a VA/IPS 1440p freesync monitor for around the same price.

The high-end TN panels are honestly quite good. TN gets a bad name due to it being used in the cheaper models but the high-end ones are good, and VA/IPS don’t feel anywhere near as responsive.

I really think if depends on the persons overall eye-health. I can tell when I dip below 200 frames, and I glance up at my fps counter to verify. So if you do the math you're missing out on 96 frames of interpolation.

1080p? Hard skip. It's 2019, the least they could do is offer 1440p or higher. Especially at 27", you'll be able to distinguish the individual pixels when sitting in front of it like you would with a PC(81.59 PPI)...

I didn't find 1080p at 27" to be that bad tbh. You had to try to look for them if you wanted to see them. Not that I'll ever go back from 1440p for my main monitor though :D

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

Cool though.

I'd really like to see 240Hz OLED though, may not be practical price and burn in issue wise, but still would be neat to see as OLED can be super responsive.

They are just good for games that dont really care much about graphics but you want good responsive gameplay. It just feels better playing certain games on a 240hz tn monitor than anything else. When someone is playing csgo or overwatch do you think they really care about the better image quality an ips display gives? Probably not. I would also like to say that the current 240hz tn displays are not that bad in terms of visual quality tbh. I have owned a 1440p 144hz and tried playing overwatch on it and it just felt awful partly because it was ips but anyways it just felt objectively worse. I do have the 4k 144hz pg27uq for when I want the eye candy but I find myself playing on my 240hz more often that not.
