Indian Customers hitting hard on NVIDIA for its insane pricing of 1080 Graphics card

TrUkBHN.jpg

Quote

Zotac, Gigabyte, ASUS have listed their price 57% to 87% higher than the price announced at the Nvidia launch event.

  • Zotac asking for U$D +411 (+59%) extra!
  • Gigabyte asking for U$D +396 (+57%) extra!
  • ASUS asking for U$D +411 (+59%) extra!

also

  • ASUS non-Founder's Edition asking for U$D +525 (+87%) extra!
(This is epic to see non-Founder's Edition is more expensive than Founder's Edition)

They are flooding the Amazon product pages of Zotac, Gigabyte, ASUS with 1 STAR reviews and negative comments.

EDIT

Even the 5 star ratings some are getting are like "Price is to high, get normal one at $599 when it releases soon blah blah"

I disagree with the author of the article that 699 dollars is a reasonable price in the first place.

I do, however, agree that the Indians are getting gouged here. An 80% price increase is beyond any sales tax.

If AMD sells their RX 480 at ~$200 USD in India, Nvidia probably won't receive many sales.

I'm sure it can work any number of ways. If price-gouging is a noteworthy matter, they might talk about it to raise awareness about it, and hopefully increase potential-customer pressure for prices to come down in certain countries.

To be honest am not entirely sure why other countries get so much bad taxing, is their money that is less valuable ? Or just like VAT tax in UK and stuff?

Maybe Indians should think about why this is happening in their country in particular, instead of just whining. Surely Indian people have higher price elasticity than people in richer Western countries, so higher prices in India don't help Nvidia at all. As we see on Steam, usually you'd want to set lower prices in lower-income nations, though you can do that to a greater extent with intangible goods (like software) than tangible goods (like graphics cards).

So there are probably other explanations for higher pricing in India. Perhaps the difficulty of doing business there, India has a reputation for being bureaucratic.

The problem is that this is an nVidia product and scoring any nVidia product a "zero" is also highly predictive of the number of nVidia products the reviewer will receive for review in the future.

I wasn't wrong. It's extremely rare that I am. I provided sources as well. Different devs can disagree. Further, we now have confirmed discrepancy from Twitter about he use of the pre-release 1080 driver in AMD's demo despite the release 1080 driver having been out a week prior.

You apparently haven't seen his responses to questions on YouTube. He is very condescending and aggressive in his comments with which there is little justification. He acts totally different in his videos. I don't necessarily care for this content style and there is nothing really unique about him or his channel. His endless dick jokes and toilet humor are annoying as well.

What do you mean? CAD $909 is exactly USD $599 after conversion, which is MSRP. What's your point?

And i though Australia had it bad at $869.70 USD, Indians are paying $1k+ USD! Surely they can see prices shouldn't be dictated by the American $ anymore it's getting out of control! 1080 is almost unobtainable by most let alone what the 1080ti is going to cost.
