Am I the only one worried about replacing Type-A with Type-C?

Morata

@LinusTech - I’ve heard your raves about Type-C, but I question the ports durability because of the wobble.

I know you made the video, but I wish lightning was an option with thunderbolt, it’s a far superior port in terms of design and flex to Type-C.

I want Type-C to die, and to be replaced with a port more stable, more secure, more snug.

I think it should be the other way around. there should be an universal standard that what I think should be usb type c.

also, why morata on a tech forum?

A more "snug" fit allows more connectors and more room for error. The "wobble" allows more flexibility without needing caution or always having the back thought of "ohhh noooo is my charger plugged in right, don't touch it! you'll mess it up!"

Type C needs to take over as the standard. It lasts longer, chargers faster, more convenient. I don't understand your hate for it lol

It's better than Micro B. I've been using Type C on my phone as well and It's never felt much less sturdy than USB A

Type-C is definitely better than Type-A, at least I don't have to worry about the direction when plugging it in. New kids wont understand the 'wrong side --> flip connector --> wrong again --> flip again --> get it right' suffer though

any explanation?

From physics perspective though the wobble of Type-C means longer impact time and less forces when being yanked on.

I've had USB-C for so long on my MBP now and I can say wow is it bad. Connector falls out so much, definitely not doing any damage to the ports, but needs to be way more secure. Never had a problem with lightning and hasn't failed since I got it in my devices in 2012.

I’m well aware, most of the USB variants make me feel like a peasant.

USB Type-A is the only one I trust to do the job right every time.

Micro-B is particular trash.

Lightning cables generally are way weaker than USB-C from what I've seen. I cant tell you how many times I've seen someone with a lightning cable with the cable having been bent so many times the wires are exposed

Well it could be made with stronger materials, and generally, people don’t take care of their devices and phones as they should, I’ve only ever had 1 lightning cable come out of the socket for me.

So you want a standard across all devices... but you don't want the standard that the industry is trying to adhere to. Which also happens to be the most capable solution.

Instead you want a Apple propitiatory format with features it doesn't, and may not ever, have.
