Am I the only one worried about replacing Type-A with Type-C?

The thing I don't like about Lightning is it's a power delivery cable whose end is a male connector.

 

You're relying on the charger to ensure it's safe, without the passive failsafe of having a shield to prevent you from touching live contacts

Depends on the full load temperature and how long you expect it the overclock to last. Low full load temperature makes more voltage viable.

I personally like Type C. It doesn't have an up/down to worry about so it won't get forced and damage stuff. It is a little loser connection which makes it less prone to dmg. I also haven't seen the annoying problem of pocket lint keeping your phone from charging like you see with micro connections. I know that is easily remedied, but it hasn't been an issue at all so far for my type C phone.

 

I think that type C is going to be the new standard and honestly there is no reason it shouldn't be. One connection that is shared between phones, laptops, pcs, thumb drives, etc... that is a good thing.

Really? My gf has the 2017 MBP and no issues whatsoever. Is it happening on all ports or have you been using 1 more than the others?

In the world of premium ultrabooks, it has many advantages against competition like the XPS 13. I advised my gf to buy the MBP last year instead of the XPS and I do not regret doing it. I would never buy it for myself, but it has many, and I do mean many advantages that have been listed over and over.

All ports. It’s the cord. Springs broke in the cord. It’s just not as great as lightning or MagSafe.

Imagine if someone put a VGA connector housing around the outside of a usb-c...you could literally bolt your usb in.

USB C is way way better than micro B.

in my experience it does form a strong bond, too strong to really make the whole 'not knocking your laptop off the table' feature useless for me

Lightning should actually not be used anymore. It's design, while snug, is terrible in terms of future uses and actual functionality. iPhones are a great example of this, when you put your phone in your pocket, lint can get in your charging port. In micro USB and USB-C there is enough room around the port that when you plug it in, the dust moves out of the way and will fall out, and even with this, USB-C is design in a way that if it wiggles (which is minimal compared to a large majority of connectors), pins are separated enough that they will not make contact. With Lightning, it jams that shit up into the top of the port, resulting in a necessity to clean the port on occasion in order to maintain proper connection WHICH if you add more pins to this, it could become a VERY dangerous procedure, one which you CANNOT do with Air, and must physically insert something and dig out what is stuck in there. The reason USB-C is so powerful and popular is the amount of pins that it's able to put in such a small space. Something you cannot do with a design like Lightning.
 

Maintaining strong connection does not mean a cable has no wiggle room, it just means that it's designed to work around inevitable wiggle room.
