Apple Music now boasts more subscribers than Spotify in the U.S.

 Apple music on Android sucks. All my impressions are only from using it in Android.

 

1.The UI sucks. There is no persistent bottom bar to navigate. You have to swipe to access it. They would have a lot more paying customer if they improved the UI.

 

2. When you search something in Spotify, the results show up as you type out the word. In Apple music it dosen't. I have to tap a suggested keyword for it to show any result.

 

3.In Spotify search results show songs, playlist, albums, podcasts all in the same page while in Apple music, you have to select a category first for it to show any result.

 

4. In spotify songs can be sorted by date added to library. In Apple music, it can only be sorted by Name and Artist. This is a deal breaker for me.

 

5.There are a lot more podcasts in Spotify than in Apple Music.

I think that given the higher market share that Apple enjoys in the US, this doesn't really come as a surprise. When you consider that Apple Music plays nicer with Apple hardware (like Apple Watch, Apple TV, Siri integration), no wonder more people might opt for it.

I know lots of people that use Spotify, but I habnt seen a single person than use Apple music.

 

 

I think Spotify is better and I use it mostly on my Windows desktop.

And Spotify top quality setting is 320 kbit/s.

 

YouTube sound quality is shit compared to both, so that's a no to as long as the song exists on Spotify.

Still on Spotify free, Spotify is horrible but it's the only place I can find all of my music

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Good! Spotify has been no lo get pushing things forward, lacking the most basic functionality, like sort New Additions by genre. Spotify is starting to be looking like a basic service compared to the rest. Hopefully, Spotify will start to move again, and be competitive.

I don't use either of them. But I'd buy a CD for some albums I want and rip it. But just buy and download MP3's that I want and that's it.

I use Apple music and Spotify both and I love/hate both. Apple music NEEEEDS a dark theme. Apple music can also be very janky when trying to reconnect to a cell network. But they always have the artist you want. Spotify though has dark theme and user made playlists which help a ton when finding new music. But the UI is a little bit cluttered.

Won't deny those, but Apple's queue management is so much better... so much better.  I don't understand why Spotify basically makes it impossible to have an empty queue, and why it's harder to insert a song mid-queue.  As the sort of person who'll regularly stumble across a brand new single while listening to a brand new album, I find Apple's approach considerably smarter.

Apple Music has a dark theme... on macOS Mojave.  It'd be nice if Apple could slip a dark theme into iOS, but there's no definitive evidence that it's coming in iOS 12 (at least, not on launch).

 

Also, Apple Music does have user-made playlists (I should know, I've created some) that you can share with others.  They're not as explicitly designed for sharing as on Spotify, but they're very real!

Can't say I've had issues reconnecting to sell service. Might depend on carrier and region. I'm in Ireland. I start playing music in the house on WiFi, as I leave it switches to 3G without interruption; and in town I have 4G and it never skips a beat.

Although I'd love a night theme for everything ever! So glad Apple is bringing it System wide done correctly in OSX. Now just add it to iOS damn it!

I don't really use streaming services for music myself. Usually played locally from my phone, or converted to .mp3 and burned to a CD-RW for my car.

Can we not talk about stealing music in a thread about paid subscription services?  I mean, those services have their own issues (they're not so hot for indie artists), but you're not smarter if you bootleg songs that are easily available through legal means... you're just a cheapskate.

 

(To be clear: I'm fine with ripping CDs you own, of course, just not ripping YouTube vids and Spotify/etc. tracks.)

IDK what to tell you it sounds much better than Spotify for me. I thought since a few of my iTunes downloads were FLACs then it would all be like that. Oops.

I actually use no streaming platform, due to a lack of internet primarily.

However whenever I do stream its from Bandcamp for buying new music or downloading free music.

Also my music is so niche that no one has it anywhere.

Who needs fancy graphics and high resolutions when you can get a 60 FPS frame rate on iGPUs?
