TBH, I think most deskpros are hideous, the ATX ones are so ugly. I like these AT style cases, very sleek and thin, made with some pretty thick metal for the tops. Only thing I don't like about them is dealing with the drives, its so cramped in there.

Old shit no one cares about but me.

Only ones I like are the ones like my old one where you can put a monitor on top of them.

Decided to put back together what was left of my old PCs. I've got an AMD 286-16/S, AMD DX-40 with 8MB RAM, Cyrix 486 SLC and an AMD K6-2 (works but is very temperamental). The computer mice are a Microsoft Serial Mouse (has patent pending on it) and a Serial-Port Compatible Mouse 2. The WD HDD is my original 85MB that was used in my first 3, along with the first FDD. The second Maxtor HDD is the replacement 422MB for the WD - with both still working well past the MTBF. I managed to get the 386 to boot this morning, but its stuck in a restart loop as corrosion from the 486's bios battery has damaged the terminals for the switch. Both the 286 and 486 are damaged beyond repair since the batteries on both have leaked, but since the 386 has always used an external battery its still fine (its built to last and is going to be part of my silent, no moving parts build).

I'm gonna be getting a Dell QuietKey (RT7D5JTW) keyboard. Not as good as a Model M (this one is membrane, but it is nice and clicky), so... Yeah. Brand new too, so it's a win for me.

  • 2 weeks later...

So, I found this gem while cleaning junk out from my parents place. This was the first PC upgrade that I ever did, and if I remember right we're talking about 2001ish, maybe early 2002. I just remember it took me forever to save up enough allowance to buy this two stick kit so that I could play newer games. I also found my old school Cyborg Graphite joystick that I bought specifically for playing the original X-Wing vs TIE Fighter. PCMasterRace FTW!! Lolz

I still have 4x 128MB DDR333 CL3 sticks hanging around. My old Dell from the college close by had all four sticks running in a weird dual-channel setup (according to the BIOS).

My first self computer upgrade was 4 1gb DDR ram sticks when I was 11 or 12 (21 now).

Upgraded the 512 mb ram on my crappy dell computer to 4gb ram on my crappy dell computer; I needed to play more wow, and things started lagging. (I've had an OK GPU/CPU for the time, by OK i mean 30 FPS ok)

I got the sticks from "Crucial", never heard of the company since :o First "Next day shipping" too :)

I remember also being scared to "Push" in the ram all the way ^_^
