Car Enthusiast Club [Now Motorcycle friendly!] - First thread to 150k! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don't lump me in with them. I'm an enthusiast of mechanic design, be it engines, weaponry, or productive machinery. Not a guy with a wrench that reads the marketing garbage AFE/insert other "enthusiast" brand that can't legally warranty half of their products.

I fail to see a correlation between people screeching variations of "forced induction is more efficient!!! Reclaimed energy!!!" and anything I've said.

If you can't be civil. Please leave

Edit. That goes for everyone in the thread

I managed to set a car alarm off twice today just by driving past it

Somethings defo wrong with said car

The car alarm is "triggered" and "oversensitive" xD

It happened to me once back in high school, me and my friends are playing Badminton in doubles and the shuttle cock hit the car and it triggered the alarm and the service didn't even came from a smash.

There is more that meets the eye

You know those news articles you read about mechanics speeding, joy riding and just generally doing stupid things with customer cars? Well if you follow me/have read my status updates, you probably already seen my statuses regarding this.

So I have telematics insurance (come on, it is £700/year cheaper plus Google already tracks me so...) and two or three days ago, my insurance's feedback app told me to stop speeding. I thought nothing of it as it gets triggered very easily. However, my insurance company called me earlier sternly telling me to stop speeding or I risk my policy being cancelled (which I re-informed them that I didn't actually have the car, which their tone immediately changed) and got sent a follow up email.

In the email, it gave me 3 examples of speeding:

Ummmm mate, you're going over the bloody limit by almost 50% xD.

Unfortunately, its in under warranty so I can't really use it to my advantage? (without destroying their business as I don't have the heart to). Regardless, looks like I'll never be touching them with a barge pole again, even if its warranty related...

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Well in the UK, insurance companies are known to be notorious at charging a lot for under-25, male drivers.

Average yearly price for a 17-20 female in Scotland: £1500

Average yearly price for a 17-20 male in Scotland: £2200

Ummm...what happened to our anti-discrimination laws? Legislators have once cracked down on insurance companies for the pricing imbalance (they were <£1000 for females) but instead of having our pricing lowered, their's got increased considerably instead. Backfired? Yep xD

Anyway, thankfully I moved to a slightly nicer area (last year) meaning my insurance dropped by a solid £1K/year compared to where I used to live (*cough cough* more price discrimination) but still, due to the obnoxious cost for insurance, I was unable to get a FTO, GTO, 3000GT or a 350z :/

I should really start working on my A2 lisence so I can ride a real bike this summer... So damn expensive though

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

miata cost me around $1800/yr. not too far off here.

full coverage though. If I had liability only it'd probably be 2/3rds of that.

If i had full coverage on my corolla it would of been like $2000-2200ish per year. Lousiana is one of the more expensive states though, because of our crap drivers and poor population areas with a larger amount of uninsured or even unlicensed drivers... awful roads probably play a part in that as well.

I got my motorbike in the downstairs living room, wrenching away at the moment. Need metric bolts for the brake caliper and adapter, then gotta work on the wiring for the motor, hopefully should be out riding today. Its not hard to do, just tedious. Its going to be a great wonderful day.

a rich girl would never drive a stagea (even when it was new) ... most likely a brand new Mercedes or something else expensive, overly complicated and quite crap xD

and eventually crash it cause she mixed up the gas and brake pedals
