Retailer Leaks Three Upcoming Coffee Lake CPUs

Tx_2_step

Source: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/retailer-leaks-coffee-lake-cpus,36551.htm

The new CPU's are

  • I5-8600
  • I5-8500
  • I3-8300

Quote

These are all “non-K” parts, so they don’t have an unlocked multiplier for easy overclocking on a Z370 motherboard, but they’re likely meant to be paired with the upcoming budget-oriented H370 and B360 boards. Relative to the current lineup of Coffee Lake CPUs, the i5-8600 will slot in below the i5-8600K. The i5-8500 will be under that, and the i3-8300 will be below the i3-8350K.

So what will happen to the  I5-8400 released last year? maybe go to the discount shelf?

It's a leak, but basically everyone knew this was coming.

Oh wait, 300+GHz CPU? That will break the overclocking records everywhere and create enough heat to short out the power circuit of the city (or even country) :P

What's the point of a locked Intel chip when an unlocked AMD chip is in the same price range?

Intel carries a price premium to its name, just like Apple.

What baffles me is the absence of B and H series boards, even though they have been releasing non k processors for months now. Has it been like this with every gen?

I dont remember it being this late. Makes building a “budget” coffeelake pc impossible

this was the rushed release from Ryzen's competition

CL was only supposed to release early this year

SkyLX and KBLX also released a quarter early

Get ready everyone! 3 mediocre cpu's are coming our way! lol

What's that supposed to mean?i5 8400 really makes ryzen 1600 look weak, i5 8500 could completely destroy it (remember that even with the new ryzen prices, i5 8500 will be only 10$ more expensive than r5 1600 and probably be much better).

Yeah.. exactly. I have been looking to build a nice rig with i5 8400 but these motherboards are just damn too expensive.

Oh ok. That makes sense. But still having more of these locked processors show up and not a proper budget motherboard to go along with them is a shame.

Higher single-threaded speeds, which is why the 8700K and even 7700K are/were the best CPUs for gaming.

Who knows, maybe they'll release budget boards with them.

No shit sherlock... The 2600 is coming out very soon. Thats like saying "Oh, the 8400 will destroy the 7400!"... Obviously. The chip will have come out almost a year after the 1600. The 2600 vs the 8400 and 8500 will be interesting though.

Not to mention, you have to keep the price in mind. The current motherboards for coffee lake are all at least 50 dollars more than the AM4 motherboards. And keep in mind, the AM4 mobo's will also work with the 2nd generation ryzen CPU's. So don't just say the price of the CPU, also say the price of the motherboard.

Also ryzen is OC'able

Case: InWin 303 Motherboard: Asus TUF X570-Plus Processor: Ryzen R9-3900x GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ram: 32 GB DDR4 3000 MHZ

PSU: Corsair CX750M Storage: 1TB Intel 660p NVME SSD and a 2TB Seagate 7200RPM HDD Mouse: Logitech G600 Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow Ultimate 2014 HeadphonesSteelseries Arctis 7 Audio: Shure PGA58 with a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen

In what? Single core? The gap is also actually smaller than you think as the 1600 can be overclocked (even on stock cooler). Talking about overclocking, 1600 runs a lot cooler and consumes less power (even overclocked to 4GHz~) sooooo...how about we stop here and just agree both have their upsides and downsides? :D

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...
