I need a girlfriend

RoxBox

Don't worry about finding a girl friend.  I am old as hell compared to most of you, when I graduated high school I had my MCSE in Windows 2000/ Server 2000, and my A+ and Networking + before the summer was done after graduation.  I was single all through high school, never had a real girl friend till I was 19.  What changed was I graduated high school and opened my own repair shop and had my own place and  business.  I was a geek growing up but I was still a good looking guy and well of where it mattered but lacked social skills.  I spent most of my 19th year of life racking up Rick Flair numbers with the Laides (because now i'm the older guy with his own place and business), a trend that only increased when I joined the Army in reserve status as a IT Specialist.  The point is now is the time to just grow and find yourself, you don't need a Girlfriend for that, if your hand isn't enough go out to a party and get your willy wet as someone so eloquently put it above.  Just don't loose your self in someone else, your far too young.  I almost made bad choices putting toxic relationships in-front of more important things.  I know its hard to understand when your so young.  It's hard to see the future when your stuck in depressing present, but in a way your life doesn't matter right now. What I mean by that is you have only begun to live, life has allot more reset buttons than people think, they are just not instant.  I know all the "grown ups" tell high-school kids the same stuff, but it is absolutely true.  And remember you never find a good relationship when your looking too hard, when its right, it will find you.

I can see the train of thought. I still get second hand cringe every time I come across one of these threads, though.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

I want one but my wife said no.

*edit

OK apologies I couldn't help myself ...

I get what your going through, teen years suck, your lonely and you want to be with someone but I am going tell you he same as I tell everyone. Your better waiting until your 20 then you can find a wife for life instead of a dead end. Honestly I am not being facetious I am giving it to you straight, focus on your school, get a career then get the girl so you can then provide and have a family. It is as simple as that no need to make it more difficult.

I think the biggest problem you have is "need". It's a want, not a need. You don't need a girlfriend.

I always find it such a turn off if I'm dating someone and they say they need me. I'd rather be wanted. Need means they're weak and can't manage on their own. That's not at all attractive.

Wait till u are 20 or 21 at that age u'll become wiser and more adult about all things..

Getting a gf at 16-18 usually jff..its not a true love ..and mostly its just lust..

But yes age doesnt determine your behavior and personality.

Its just from my experience.

I never have any Gf since..birth..cause i am not ready for it.

Haha, it's always better to make mistakes when you're young, you bounce back a whole lot faster.

I think it should be a bit of both. If you're going to go into a deep relationship, needing someone isn't necessarily a bad thing. Obviously, it should start off  with you wanting someone but it should eventually progress to you being rely on them and by then, needing the person in your life isn't a bad idea.

I have one, but just getting a girlfriend for the sake of having one is the wrong reason. I've had plenty of bad relationships because people asked me out and I said yes on a whim.

If you can't be happy and self loving (in a positive sense) on your own you can't expect someone else to do it for you. It's ok to like the idea, it's ok to be fed up with being single from time to time but you need to work on your overall attitude towards yourself and towards life. People often tend to define themselves through the things they accumulate, through the money they make, through the stress they have at work, through the people they gather around them or through their partners. At the end though the only thing that defines you is you and only you. When you're happy with yourself your attitude will show and at some point you'll meet someone who likes and loves you for who you are.

Not only that, but waiting for some meaningless age to come by is pointless. Just do what makes you happy and ask people you like on dates.

Exactly, worst thing that can happen is they say no. Well. Unless you work together. Then it can just become awkward.

Context: I'm at Uni in the UK. There's 14 people in my flat (something like a corridor full of dorm rooms)

Actual thing:

Almost everyone in my flat except myself and 1 other person has had girlfriends and/or did things together sexually.

Everyone these days wants to have all the benefits of having a girlfriend with none of the negatives of having one. Life simply doesn't work like that :P.

I don't know what's causing this but i find it a little funny.

Have you ever thought we are literally the best people to ask?  Unlike car buff forums we can't say go out pimp your PC and roll it low and slow down your local roads right after school.

The community I initially came from over 10 years ago had over 1 million users and about 5,000 active forum ones. Some of those 5,000 became fairly close friends. Those people by definition of yours are nerd's, but in real life they came from everywhere, from being homeless within a city using the library/public services to doctors and other high end non tech jobs. Out of all the people I know only 2-5 work in the tech industry.

So don't undermine us, please. It makes you look bad.
