Legacy systems always retain folks for a few years. For example, I'm triple-booting Win 8.1, 10, and Linux Mint "Serena".

Because the argument could be made that Windows 10 is worse than Windows 7 for many reasons some of which are purely anecdotal and others that have some truth behind them.

Most of the Windows 7 and 8/8.1 signed drivers drop into Windows 10 without issue.

Some people avoid it for "spying"

some people hate the forced updates

Actually that one is sort of related to me.  On my laptop I still use Windows 7 because Windows 10 forces the latest drivers it can find, and thanks to AMD, the latest driver is not one that works properly, so yeah.

Windows 10 never breaks down for me.

DX 12, imo better-looking appearance, support from MS, signing in with an MS account, Ubuntu inside Windows 10 native from the store, device management from the web.

We still have W7 on the majority of our computers at work. I've slowly been rolling out W10 to each department as I can and the budget allows, however I still have about 2 years until W7 support is dropped, and that's plenty of time to swap out the remaining machines.

All of our PCs and laptops run Windows 10 Academic to tie to a domain for login and restrictions.

My school just updated from Windows 7 to 10 over the summer cause we got all new systems. Personally I'm still running 7 on my laptop and 10 on my PC. I didn't update to 10 on my laptop cause at the time I didn't have windows activated on my laptop

Many reasons. It works. It doesn't look like it was made for tablets or those little toy computers you can buy for kids. It doesn't force updates that may or may not break stuff. Compatability. Privacy. That strange error some people are getting in 10 that randomly makes the CPU run at 100% on idle. The list could go on a while longer, but it's past midnight for me and I need my 6 hours of sleep.

Anyone who tells you that you can't do something is unimaginative and probably a coward.

people didnt go to 8 because it was cancer

people didnt go to 7 cuz they dont like forced updates, have software that has compatibility issues on 10, have a thing against being spied on, etc

7: Areo looks imo bad

i actually like aero personally.

but i actually really like 10, i just manually disabled all the telemetry with registry edits so i dont have issues.

also ive got a program that was written for windows 95 working perfectly fine on 10, so no issues for me :)

Both OS's are good imo. Win7 and Win10.

Like myself Legacy is still quite useful. I have things that work on Win7 that wont work on Win10.

Windows 10 is bloatware. I don't want Candy Crush or Minecraft thank you.

Windows 7 supports everything just fine and doesn't track every porn you search.

Hospitals, research institutions and pharmaceutical companies rely on equipment using Windows 7 or even lower. In my previous job, our HPLC bought in 2004 is still using Windows XP because the manufacturer hasn't updated the firmware and software to work with modern Windows versions. Although I think at the moment, some equipment manufacturers are releasing drivers and software to work with Windows 10.

"never change a running system"
I simply don´t see a reason to upgrade, even when its free. Unless Microsoft forces it i wont switch and at the moment. Many big companies still use Windows 7 so the most important security fixes are also rolled out for Windows 7. So before 2020 my OS will be Windows 7. Or could you name me one good reason to switch ?

Get used to this operating system as well as the solid interface. Sometimes, Windows 10 brings insecurity sense to me. Maybe that is because its interface is too smooth.
