I'll be waiting for Volta Titan.

Volta will only come in 2019 most likely, nVidia has no reason to roll it out already when they can still milk users more money with Pascal, and each generation costs a fortune to develop so the more return they get from it the better, AMD lack of competition only helps them to.

Besides why? so you have the "fastest" card for 10 months at a stupidly high price tag when the GTX 2080 Ti comes being faster and cheaper to make you feel stupid, if not enough then the TITAN X Volta v2 comes out for the same price 11 months later... and so it goes never ending.

I thought Titan cards are collector's edition of x80 Ti cards themselves?

By locked my definition to that is the vBIOS does not allow change to clock speed. This is not true in the case of 1070ti.

Why wouldn't Nvidia release another Titan card? Vega is about as much competition to Pascal as a chocolate bar is to a hairdryer and while Nvidia keep doing the same stupid shit over and over again the consumers keep lapping it up like diarrhoea hungry flies.

AMD shook up the CPU market with Ryzen but unfortunately Vega has only shown Nvidia they have nothing to fear from Team Red and they can now pretty much do whatever they want. Consumers wanting the highest tier GPUs have only one choice, its green, costs $1000 and will likely be replaced in 6 to 9 months by a new revision that offers minimal performace increase for more money. This is basically where Intel was when all AMD had was FX.

They sort of were.

They realized this a long time ago.

They only did something about it now because a 1070Ti is effectively 95% of a 1080. The only real difference is Memory bandwidth and VRAM config.

What we truly need is at least one other company in the GPU & CPU "arms race"... But yeah, I agree. Just not another Vega 64 pls :S

Nvidia felt threatened by VEGA 56 so they clearly invented a 1070Ti spec and grabbed a bunch of slightly defective 1080s to use them against AMD.

Is it? I mean 6 months ago the idea Nvidia would release 2 Titans in the space of a few months was laughable, the idea of the 1070ti right now is still being laughed at by just about every body and now we have a third Titan coming out in the space of 9 months?

Nvidia has no reason the devalue Volta by doing a consumer release. Vega 56 is competitive in the upper mid range market but Vega 64 is no competition at all and if you want a high tear GPU you buy a 1080ti or Titan, no question. Why would Nvidia release Volta now when they're raking in all that sweet machine learning cash from the big corporations and can continue to do so for the foreseeable.

What exactly are you going to do about it if Nvidia don't release Volta this year? (and by You I mean we as consumers)

said this about 1070ti

think its applies here

I find it funny people complain about a product on the Market for a year and something else comes in to bridge the gap and offer alittle performance for same price bracket

Its like complaining about buying 2017 car when you know 2018 models coming out soon might have same hp mpg but newer features

you bought it because you wanted/needed it at the time

No,on the contrary. It would be effectively locked if they allowed factory OCs and did not allow manual OCs. Because you would have to pay more to get the same performance you would get by manually OCing.

But still, a strange product. They could just lowered the price of the 1080 and done. But ofc they wanted the hype

Ultra is stupid. ALWAYS.

this is getting silly. someone tell NVIDIA to get of the shrooms please. might be because Volta is shit though, who knows if those Tensor cores can be used for games, if not it perorms just like Pascal. At least thats the case for the Tesla cards

there is no real gap to be bridged though, the 1070TI is priced like a 1080 but dosent perform quite like one. a good 1070TI costs the same as about an equal quality 1080. the 1070 and 1080 were never even that far appart in price anyway, just enough to separate them. the 1070TI is straight up a card that has no place and shouldent be out there to cause confusion
