Bill Gates uses Android phone, not iPhone

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has revealed he uses an Android-powered smartphone, rather than a Windows one.

 

"Recently, I actually did switch to an Android phone," he said, speaking on Fox News on Sunday.

 

When asked whether he also had an iPhone, perhaps as a secondary device, he replied: "No, no iPhone."

I found it more amusing than anything else. For those not familiar, Bill Gates started Microsoft and bought us DOS then Windows, amongst other things. To my understanding he retired a long time ago so isn't involved with the day to day running of MS any more, and focuses on deploying his vast fortune in philanthropic uses.

huh. thats pretty interesting. i really really likes windows phone. still my favorite mobile OS to date. they just never got the app store to a point where it was super viable. the day that app support gets better (it probably wont) i will be back on Windows Phone in the blink of an eye

Because Windows phone is dead (and crap)? Doesnt feel like AndroidOS or iOS and doesnt bring an incentive for users to get used to it either.

Even if he’s still running things in Microsoft, it would be very embarrassing for him to use a dead platform like Windows Phone/Windows 10 Mobile. So he made the right choice of picking Android which can still run Microsoft services including Exchange Active Sync just like how the NYPD get rid of 36,000 Windows Phones.

He cant use the excuse "I like android because android allows customization/ I dont like iphone because ios does not allow any customization" either because Windows Phone did not have any customization at all.

He most likely only uses his phone for phonecalls anyway, as he could get his assistants/aides/servants to do anything else he needs doing anyway. Good on him, with the billions he has he can enjoy his retirement and do something good with the money.

Man, at least with that money he's not an evil tyrant like trump xD

See, if Samsung and the majority of other Android smartphones lost the last feature that makes Android inherently better, the headphone jack. I would probably just get an iPhone. Because after all Apple has finally made the iPhone have basically all the same features as phones running Android. I think Next year's iPhone 9 or 11, whatever they decide to call it. Heck maybe they'll start calling the iPhone something else.

 

Will probably be a blend of the iPhone 8 and the iPhone X, where we have that edge to edge display but with a little more bezel than the iPhone X but less bezel than the 8. Could see them bringing back Touch ID in some way but they'd also probably still have Face ID.

 

Frankly though as long as my Galaxy S8+ gets more than just one more Android update aside from the upcoming android 8/oreo update. Like it'd be nice if I got updates until 2020 or Android 10 (Q if they keep letters still) but if the update history for my Galaxy S6 is anything to go off of, the most I will see with my S8+ would be Android 9/Android P
