AMD Ryzen 4 Core rumoured to have Hyper Threading disabled.

DELTAprime

So wait, this confirms the existence of a Zen chip without SMT. But where in the sources does it say that there won't be a 4-Core with SMT? Nowhere does it say so.

We have a NEW and GLORIOUSER-ER-ER PSU Tier List Now. (dammit @LukeSavenije stop coming up with new ones)

You can check out the old one that gave joy to so many across the land here

If AMD is smart with pricing, this will make Intel's entire dual core line irrelevant for all but the most entry-level systems.

We've had dual core CPUs for well over a decade now. Time to put them to rest.

New Build (The Compromise): CPU - i7 9700K @ 5.1Ghz Mobo - ASRock Z390 Taichi | RAM - 16GB G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 3200CL14 @ 3466 14-14-14-30 1T | GPU - ASUS Strix GTX 1080 TI | Cooler - Corsair h100i Pro | SSDs - 500 GB 960 EVO + 500 GB 850 EVO + 1TB MX300 | Case - Coolermaster H500 | PSUEVGA 850 P2 | Monitor - LG 32GK850G-B 144hz 1440p | OSWindows 10 Pro.

I'm interested in the TDP for the RYZEN quads, seeing as the hex cores are rumored to have a TDP of 65W.

45W would be a safe assumption...

I hope it is something that low, for AMD to have a heat and power advantage over Intel would do wonders for them in the mobile and SFF spaces.

Well Intel has low power desktop i3, i5 and i7 models rated at 35W TDP. Some SFF desktops and all-in-one's use the 15W Intel mobile processors too. 45W at higher performance would be a safer bet rather than outright lower power.

I'm interested in seeing what Zen's mobile parts will look like, if the desktop quad has a TDP comparable to that of some of Intel's mobile i7 EE chips, then I'm hopeful for some very low TDPs from AMD.

What dual core are you talking about?

Cause I'm sure a Skylake M3 destroys anything AMD currently hast to offer on the notebook market. Especially when you consider, that with a M3 battery lifes of up to 10 hours of useage are no problem.

Can we also take into account how a8s and a10s have better iGPUs thus the higher power consumption isn't directly due to old CPU arch and how A10/A8 equipped laptops are generally cheaper? :D

GPU perf:

HD 5500 VS HD 515 (to put the review into context)

The duel with the HD Graphics 5500 (Broadwell) is usually won by Carrizo if the game is heavily limited by the GPU.

Source/review (the a8 8600p has more or less the  same GPU that's clocked 80mhz lower  at stock).

And that's not even using the best GPU equipped in a Carrizo APU in the sense that there's the 512 stream cores equipped 8800P that still has the same 12-35W TDP limit :P (or even Bristol ridge APUs which has DDR4 RAM...)

CPU perf:

So...yeah :P

Price (cheapest I could find in the UK):

a10-8700p laptop

a8-8600p laptop

m3-6y30 laptop
i3 laptop ( A10 vs i3, HD 5500 vs HD 520)

I understand how they're 2 different form factors with how the m3 costing more due to how it has 1080p display, being in the ultrabook and portable category, isn't made from 100% plastic ect. but from a price to performance ratio perspective, you can't deny the a10+a8 is better :).

But if we include the cheapest i3 6100u equipped laptop on offer right now in the UK, well...slightly better CPU performance and about the same GPU=RIP A10 and A8 xD (but I'm inclined to not include the i3 in this comparison as typically i3 equipped laptops retail for around 450~ but you know, kabylake and shizzle=PCworld/currys need to shift dem stocks.

Back to the actual m3 vs a8 discussion, for the price and everything, you can't really say (2 years ago) m3 is any better than (2 years ago) a8 when we take price and GPU performance into consideration so...ermmmm...unless you need a ultrabook that has a price premium slapped on it then go with the m3 else the a8 is probably slightly better in the price to performance perspective :)

Looking at my signature are we now? Well too bad there's nothing here...

Have these cores been benched yet? No point arguing over 4 or 8 cores if they're still slow cores.

Canard PC Tweeted out that Ryzen's 4 Core CPU is being sampled and it has AMD's Hyper Threading equivalent disabled making it a 4C 4T CPU. Well that's a let down.

Here's the original Tweet in French

I assume the line up will dual core APUs, Dual core APUs w/ hyper threading, quad cores, Quad cores w/ hyper threading, hexa cores w/ Hypertrophying and octo core w/ hyper threading,

I'm sure they'll make 4 core APUs and maybe dual core CPU's with no graphics, but the latter seems a little redundant, but we won't know until they announce them all or release them all.

well the one i was aiming to get would be a 4c/8th tbh so if there isnt one of those idk... then id have to get maybe a 6 core or something.

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

You didnt need to write such a long text. I agree with you, but whats the TDP and power consumption of an A8? Battery life is very important to me.

Probably. Its why my A8 4555M thermal throttles from not too bad (actually coming close to my Phenom II N970) down to utter shit (slightly slower than my old PhII P920) after a short amount of time under a mid to high CPU load. And lets not even talk about the TDP throttling in games....sub Celeron M380 performance is always painful.

That'd be a good deal actually. 4c4t vs 2c4t. It'll win in multithreaded games purely because it has 2 extra physical cores.

If the 4c8t comes in at like $30 more than a 7600 it'll also be great deal.

No it isn't.  The 7600 costs significantly more than the same chip from two years ago.  Let alone the 7600k.
