HUGE Leak of Unreleased and Released Hollywood Movies...Approx. 40 titles

Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight and Alejandro González Iñárritu's The Revenant starring Leonardo DiCaprio have already leaked online ahead of their Christmas Day openings. Two blockbuster films joined by a list of titles leaked this week including Creed, Legend, In the Heart of the Sea, Joy, Steve Jobs, Concussion, Spotlight, The Danish Girl, and Bridge of Spies. A list that continues to grow by the hour. Already, this is shaping up to be one of the worst cases of piracy to ever hit Hollywood

 

All the leaks are of exceptional quality for early releases with "DVDScr" in the title suggesting DVD screeners — DVDs issued to critics and awards voters — as the source content. The leaks began on December 20th with a note saying The Hateful Eight was just one of 40 screeners that the so-called CM8 "scene group" would be releasing. "Will do them all one after each other," read the footnote, "started with the hottest title of the year, the rest will follow." All but The Revenant have been leaked under the name "Hive-CM8."

Well this was unexpected, and I'm sure Hollywood is going to make sure some head roll for this. We will have to see how this unfolds, but it says that one of the leaks was already traced to where the screener originated from. I checked and most of the torrents are about 2GB in size, and seem to be great quality from the comments. -snip- I am still going to reserve the nice $16 seats to see it opening weekend next month.

i guess hollowyood only goes after torrent sites if movie isn't realsed yet lol.

generally don't see this often on torrent sites. \

Am I just blind or is there not a list of what 40 movies were leaked? Saying "40" and then only 5-6 titles being said isn't "40".

 

I am blind lol(there is no full list, just the group claiming there are 40 movies). Well that just sucks for everyone involved(well except for pirates).

 

I do hate that companies still go on about lost revenue from piracy, people who are pirating weren't going to buy it anyway OR they are pirating now to see the film and then buying later. Either way they can't claim lost revenue.

So, how come those DVDs sent out to reviewers and whatnot aren't water marked so they can be traced back to the original leaker? It can't be too hard to insert a unique fingerprint that is hidden in the video. Just put like a very transparent serial number somewhere in a single frame, and then do that like 20 times spread through out the movie.

From what I've read around about this, the scene groups are removing/smudging these watermarks or if they have two different copies they get scenes from the other copy and edit it in. Not sure how they find the watermarks though...

The sources are screeners which are always sent out in December ready for the award season which begins with the Oscars in January.

Also remember a few of the leaks last year were from the Sony hack too.
