Payday 2's Microtransaction situation worse(Forum Mods Quit)

As we all know about the fiasco that has happened with Payday 2 and Overkill adding Microtransactions when they originally stated that they would never resort to them. Due to the current uproar and backlash the Steam forum mods for the game are getting a significant amount of it. Due to all the backlash they are getting they have decided to quit in protest of the microtransaction situation. If you head over to r/paydaytheheist, you can see just how the player base for the game feels about this. I personally think that Microtransaction are ok ONLY IF they are giving free content in return.

Dang. I was never too big of a heister, but I freaking loved this game when it first came out. I stopped playing shortly after I managed to stealth Framing Frame. Yet I must admit, the absolute avalanche of DLC Overkill floods the game with was part of the reason I moved on too. Now Microtransactions? As if being Heist Train Simulator wasn't enough?

I bought PayDay2 a few days ago and I really like the game. The only thing that annoys me are the overpriced DLCs.

Imagine how the fans who get each DLC the day it's released feel. I stopped playing after I thought about how much it would cost me in the long run... I would be more comfortable just paying $60 for a full game.

It's nice that there's a GOTY version out now but it's too late for me, I wouldn't touch the game with the community in an uproar.

What are you talking about? The mods made that statement about people breaking rules. Mods are unpaid volanteers and have NOTHING to do with decisions made by the developers.

Wow... I mean it the game has a really cool concept but it just doesn't feel like it has enough content for people to be putting more cash into it than most triple A titles out there, even with all of the DLC.

Oh no, I absolutely love the game, it is a fun way to waste time with friends. Its concept is perfect and the way it is handled is great. Its just the amount of DLC. Granted, you don't need the DLC for some things, but when you can't access weapon addons you unlock in the game without buying the DLC, that is when the system is flawed.

Exactly, the DLC quality is garbage for the most part and now they want to add silly micro-transactions knowing that the player base (which is desperate for decent content) will pay for anything that might be worth a damn.

I really don't understand why they needed micro transaction... The game sold amazingly well as far as I know and they really should have realised that no one wants microtransactions....

Mehhh, I still like to play the game, that is enough and besides, you can get those stuff from playing, both vaults and drills(keys) if im not mistaken which is unlike CSGO, where you only get chests

If I remember correctly, the skin version of the weapon only obtained through microtransaction does indeed give a stat bonus, and that's what freaking everyone out about.

they tripled the size of the dev team, and with the rediculous sales, they really do need the income.

yes, they come with minor stat bonuses, but honestly they dont make that much of a difference.  even with the bonus nobody get "an unfair advantage" since its a coop game with no leaderboards or competetiveness at all. your entire crew reaps the benefit of your +4 accuracy skin.

 

and lets be honest, when they "lied" about never having microtransaction, it was over 2 years ago, in a post by Alimir, the self proclaimed PR guy for the company, and he was in no position to make a statement like that, 2 years is a long time in development hell, shit changes, people need to get over it

 

no i dont like microtransactions, but its basically the tf2 model, get chest, buy key, profit.  i dont have to buy a key if i dont want to, or now i can wait for a key to drop.  i think its been estimated you get either a safe, or a drill every 5 days on average.

the death threats were stupid people overreacting, like they always do because gamers hate change.
