Mythbusters will end after its 14th season next year

             Growing up, I usually wasn't watching those kids shows on nickelodeon, cartoon network, or even Adult Swim. I was watching things that were on the science channel, such as "How it's made", and this "Mythbusters." But that was years ago, I've become busy and have lost interest in the show, I do although watch every then and now, since I follow their facebook page, as well as on instagram. It's quite sad that they're going to be ending the show, but I suppose for the time that it was up, a good 13 years, it was fun. 

 

 

Mythbusters is coming to an end. In a pair of interviews with Entertainment Weekly, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman confirmed that they're finally closing up shop after 13 years of experiments and explosions.
 

 

"Three or four years ago we started wondering more if we were going to be renewed," Savage told EW, explaining that long-running shows like theirs tend to have "freshness dates." Getting a final season, he says, lets the pair send the show off right. "We’ve been filming the last season this year and we get to send it off. We get to pay homage to this thing that’s changed our lives."
 
Savage and Hyneman learned earlier this year that they'd be getting one more season, so they've spent the past several months working on new segments. The focus will apparently be on looking back on the show's best experiments. "There’s an emphasis on looking back," said Hyneman, "we could do a PhD dissertation on the things we’re tackling. We’ve tried to go as deeply as possible into the things we’re doing, and gave them the respect and care they deserve."
 
Mythbusters premiered back in 2003 on the Discovery Channel, and quickly became a pop cultural phenomenon. During the course of the show's run, Savage, Hyneman, and their fellow co-stars got to prove and disprove a number of "myths," including whether or not it's possible to escape a prison with a rope made of toilet paper (it is!), and if it's possible to cool the heat from a spicy pepper with petroleum jelly (it isn't!). The show will be missed.
 
 
Update: Starting December 23rd, the Science Channel will run a marathon of every single Mythbusters episode to date, just in time to transition into the new season.

To be rather honest the show got old a while ago, seemed like they did all the cool stuff in first few seasons. Not saying that their newer experiments aren't cool but the novelty wore off on me. But it was pure gold when it first came out, too bad I didn't fully understand it when I was 7. 

 

FYI they have a lot smaller experiment clips on Vessel, in case you want to take a trip back and didn't already know.

Seriously? That was one of my favourite shows when I was younger, and whenever I find a link I'll watch it again. I'll miss seeing the walrus and the hyperactive man-child blow shit up "for science"once they've gone

I am legit sad. I don't normally get sad about a show or movie but I loved the mythbusters. I would binge watch them for hours before school and growing up. I don't see them just disappearing though. Adam is on the Youtube channel Tested and he said he is going to start his own channel. Jamie I don't know he is just Jamie. Farewell mythbusters you will be greatly missed.

This show was amazing when they started, now days they either blow stuff up almost for the sake of it, though from time to time they do interesting stuff, like they used too, i hope this last season they do stuff they planned to do before but never couldn't for whatever reason, they really have to go out like a bang knowing this is the last time they will do it.

Adam commented that he was glad they got the extra season so they can wrap up with a season of everything they wanted to do, but wanted to wait until the last season.  So expect some crazy ****.

 

Maybe Jamie will get to blow up Adam's Indiana Jones hat? 

 

Those Penman's/Adventure Built hats are virtually indestructible anyways, but I'm sure they could find a creative way.  Mine has been through torrential rain, ice rain, wind, snow and still looks almost brand new.

Even though I hadn't watched the show for ages I'm still sad since it was one of the better TV shows to have existed. Glad they made it for this long and if they start a similar show on Youtube I'd certainly subscribe.

They have a youtube channel now (tested it's called) though most of the time it's not really them it's just some other dudes and Adam (and even more rarely Jamie) occasionally make appearances. 

 

Hopefully they'd do more youtube stuff now, that'd be nice: I'd hate having to keep cable to watch shows like this that I still like.
