I have an opinion based on my own experience. I had an FX-6100 with an R9 270, and I would get lag all over the place in Skyrim and Minecraft, my two most-played games at the time I had it. It worked a little better with BF4, but I still had to reduce the settings a lot to get 60 FPS. And, really, does it matter so much that a person has personal experience with a product? Ever wonder why benchmarks and reviews exist? They present an objective viewpoint untainted by fanboyism and bias so that a consumer knows what he's buying with each benefit and trade-off it has versus another option. @ knows these benchmarks exist and knows how to and does cite them, and what they all say is that AMD's options are severely lacking compared to Intel's. Unless they're all lying(which is nigh impossible since there are so many people who can test these chips and there are so many benchmarks available), they clearly show who's right and who's the fanboy here.

Oh get real. That is only a Core 2 Duo, things have changed a lot since then (I should know, I own an E8500, 2x E6500K, T7600). And why don't you want to use an Nvidia GPU hmmm? Also, I have experienced AMD's CPU and GPU (I'm also selling my i5 4440 and GTX 970 for a 390/390X due to 4GB of vRAM not being enough at 4K in the games I play), with my laptop (HP Pavilion DV6 3010AX) having just been upgraded at the cost of $138 from a Phenom II P920 to a Phenom II N970 (AMD's worst locked mobile quad core to the best). I do not fanboy. I buy based on performance, overall specs and features. You on the other hand are straight up a fanboy.

Here's the thing. Thanks to the consoles, everyone seems to underestimate, games will be designed for GCN, which we know is happening right now. As a result, async compute are getting a LOT of focus amongst the devs, which benefits GCN a lot. That is why most devs team up with AMD for their DX12 titles. We al know that AMD sponsored titles always run great on PC and are vendor neutral (unlike GameWorks titles running crap on everything and sabotages AMD users something fierce).

This is all a positive thing for PC gaming, as we move away from vendor exclusive tech (we don't want PC master race to copy the worst from the console world after all).

 

With the extremely high adoption rate of DX12 amongst consumers and high hardware support (over 65% of steam users), we are seeing devs adopt DX12 very fast. That will certainly benefit AMD a lot more than NVidia.

 

Two massive issues with your rose-tinted view. The first is that consoles count for shit all. So little that Nvidia didn't even bid. There's no money in it. Second that the 200 series was actually really good and competitive compared with the 700 series, and it didn't matter. Even with the coin mining boom, it was the generation that saw AMD's market share fall below a quarter. AMD could absolutely dominate Nvidia in terms of their product but if no one buys their cards it won't mean a thing.

 

Personally I'm highly sceptical of the whole async compute thing. Firstly because there have been two benchmarks and two benchmarks only published about Dx 12 performance comparisons and they have utterly contradicted eachother. Seconly Nvidia's claim that the game does not properly utilise Dx 12 is somewhat corroborated by the absence of literally every feature touted by Microsoft.

 

We'll know the truth of it in time, but until then all there is is speculation.

People often neglect that Ashes of The Singularity is an RTS game that forgoes the deterministic simulation requirement that all RTS games have. It is literally the best possible case scenario for our of order pipelining on a GPU.

AMD is not dead and if they can hold on long enough I can see how async compute and native DX12 and DX12.1 will help them while Nvidia can't do anything about it. If greenland releases and performs the same or better then Pascal at a lower price they got it in the bag. Also if Zen every comes out. If I was you I would invest now and see it climb

Your devotion towards one company has garnered a bitter hatred towards another, without any logical reason. For NVidia, it will be business as usual, and they will operate as they currently do. We've already seen Microsofts track record with hardware engineers when it came to their mobile division, i do not see them doing much with AMD. 

 

You also said "APU line have no competition" except they do. Intel is hot on AMD's heels when it comes to their iGPU, and they got very close in a short period of time. Granted, AMD claims to have a trick up their sleeve, regarding HBM and their APU's, so that is still to be seen. There are quite a few of your posts all over this forum, that is pro AMD, and anti-Nvidia/Intel. It is irrational. You should be "pro price:performance" before you put a brand above anything.

Asynchronous Compute is not a required DX12 feature. Sure, DX12 helped make it possible, but it is not required in order to call your card DX12 capable. Nor does it mean your card does not "Fully support DX12". What does fully support even mean?

Yes. In this one specific game, AMD has an insane performance boost. It is great, glad to see it. People get more performance for their dollar, its a good thing for them. Does it mean it will be this way on every single DX12 title, even with Async Compute? No, not even close. As i stated before, this specific game in question is an RTS game that forgone deterministic simulation. A staple in every single RTS game. It is literally the best case scenario for Async Compute for AMD. I doubt there will ever be another game using Async Compute that will show this level of a performance boost. 

 

Now, before you get all high and mighty and hit me with another half-cocked cryptic response, let me remind you. Your idol company might be doing great at DX12, but take a look at the current DX12 games available, versus the current DX11 games available. I'd rather have a GPU that performs better on 90% of my total game library, than a GPU that performs better on 10% of my total games. That being said, by the time DX12 becomes mainstream enough in the AAA world, we should see improvements from both AMD and NVidia regarding DX12. More feature level support is bound to come from both sides in the future, on a broader range of cards. Remove those AMD blinders from your eyes, and become an intelligent consumer.
