Tech Confession Time!

rustikles

I installed a new GPU into my Dell prebuilt once.  Worked perfectly, except that I forgot the PCI power.  Upon booting up, I smelled burning, shut it down and opened it up... saw the mistake after some tinkering.

Yeah, really. This.

I don't believe it at all. Opening Photoshop CS6 on a  standard 7200rpm HDD is god awful slow..a 5400rpm HDD would be even more unbearable slow. An SSD launches PS CS6 in ~2 seconds. There is no way one can own an SSD and not tell a speed difference.

Don't believe it if you don't want to. No one is forcing you to. The facts are this:

-Windows Startup times are almost equal.

-I don't use CS6. All programs aside from the browsers are on the HDD anyway.

-Responsiveness did not improve at all. Going off the SSD to the 7200RPM HDD in the desktop makes 0 difference. Startup times are the same and the same delays opening programs.

You can say I am lying, but it is not going to make me waste another $100+ on yet another SSD in the future. It does not make a large difference for the investment.

I suppose for general use, the advantage isn't there. If you ever have the opportunity to launch PS CS6 on an HDD and then an SSD, you will see the SSD shine. :V

their boards can't take the south african heat even with a mild OC they die too easy and they cost too much for what you get.

I forgot this thread even existed in the first place.

Never trust my advice. Only take any and all advice from me with a grain of salt. Just a heads up.

I didn't say they do not work. but they are by no means better than other brands and cost a lot more where I'm from. also quite a few of their mobo's have died around here for no particular reason and people from here still fanboy over them. I love my asus 680 but the only reason I bought this specific one was because it cost the same as a 760 costs where I'm from.
