In torrenting, keep the .zip files for seeding necessary?

I've opened them and deleted the .zip. Should I re-download them and keep the .zip? That would double the space on my SSD!

I will move them over to a HDD. But still it's double the space for each file! Imagine for 10tb of files I would have 20tb, 10 for the files and 10 for the .zip files. Do i need to keep the .torrent file? What when I move the .torrent file and downloaded file to another folder or directory (without chaning the name or contents)?

If you want to seed your torrent file, you have to keep the matching files.

whatever the exact file you downloaded was is what you have to seed.

If it's a zip?  It's a zip.

So yes, while you're seeding, you'd have to keep both the zip and the extracted files.

well theoretically they could just "torrent" the extracted files, it would just be double the size!  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

depends what the files actually are... once a program is installed the extracted files are typically useless for example

You cant. That would mean creating a new torrent.

As @Levent said you have to keep the original file to seed.

Many places keep track of your ul/dl ratio.

Once you have seeded it for the required time you can delete the torrent files.

 

If you are on a place like the PB many people I know don't bother to seed and delete the torrent as soon as they're done downloading.

 

I would recommend the use of a system VPN, not a browser VPN.

Spain is a good place to pop up.
