Probalby the smartest Oven with Nvidia K1 SOC

ahhming

wsjunekitchenoventight.jpg

Called June, this oven includes a NVIDIA’s Tegra K1 SOC which is used to recognize food when you put them in the oven and recommend the appropriate cooking settings..

This modern oven packs in more than just a fast SoC: it also has Wi-Fi, an HD camera that hides behind protected glass, and of course, a 5-inch touchscreen.

you can watch your food cook in real time, receive push notifications when the dish is ready and remotely control its settings. The app will also assemble a time-lapse video of your dish as it cooks, and you can upload the footage to social media.

That's pretty awesome, but $3000 MSRP and $1500 until July 10 is a lot of coin for a little oven.

"Does your oven run Nvidia or AMD?"

"Oh I have a AMD oven."

"Haha, probably inefficient."

"No, my food is cooked quicker."

The only time where running hotter might be considered an advantage.  :P

Reading through the whole post that is pretty impressive. A lot of helpful things, the camera is probably the least important of the features.

But I want one, although it seems pretty tiny, realistically I would want one 3/4 times the size, because that is an oven, not a microwave.

My thoughts exactly.

And I would like a unit that has two cooking chambers and can be mounted inside the wall. (I want a big kitchen)

It sounds like a really good idea initially, but really what's wrong with a normal oven that requires it to become smart and have a camera in it? Who really wants to watch their food being cooked? If it's not done, you'll know when you go to take it out.

Now my oven will officially be more powerful than my phone. And I will also be able to respond to the joke: "What did you use to do X? A potato? -Nope! My fucking oven!" lel

The idea is similar to a baby monitor, you're not supposed to spend your whole day staring at it, it's intended to let you glance at your baby to make sure nothing is wrong without having to run around your house or stay in one room all day.

Why do we need to watch our food being microwaved?

I think it's closer to an oven than a microwave.

1. That is a microwave, it is way too small to be a proper oven, no matter what it uses for heating. Usually we use the oven for one of 2 reasons, A. Large amount of food, requires a large amount of energy to heat up fast enough. How much power does that thing have, as opposed to a REAL oven. B. A large food item, like a whole bird, or a large part of a pig, something like that is going to be hitting the walls, if it fits in the first place.

2. Who the fuck is this for? Are people really so incompetent at cooking food that they need it to be nearly fully automatic?

Realistically, if you need this oven, you will not be cooking self made food with it.

3. So fuking expensive, I could get a car for that price where I live, a car that will get me places AND cook my food. That or I'll hire a personal chef/butler/maid/somekindofaslave, then I will have guaranteed good food, without effort.

Combi-ovens are smarter but they set you back more money. But they are huge and they aren't for hipsters like this oven clearly is for.

Searching for a good name for the thing that has a Nvidia reference in it and can't even think of one.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
