everything can be arranged, if the price is right :P but srsly why would one take  a PROJECTOR TO A HOTEL ROOM TO WATCH DVDs ALONE???? whats the logic in that? Can his "super gaming laptop" even play dvds? :D maybe he should try to hook his projector up to his "upgraded ps4" and watch dvds with that lol.

hahaha :D

I dunno, maybe he's hacking some girls PC in the area and then she comes over :P

I legitimately want to talk to this dude, and listen to some bullshit explanation as to how he "upgraded his PS4". xD I'm dying over here!!!

Ask me man. It's actually pretty hilarious sometimes. He's totally serious about all this but has no explanation for any of it either

What people here are not doing is manage real life situation, including budget.

My build (http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/jkh3Cy) was around $400 CAD, while it's not a great build it was dirt cheap for what I got and I still had people told me I could've done better ... yeah right! (the prices I put is what I actually paid minus the GPU, I factored in what I got from selling my old GPU)

For $400 CAD that's actually amazing.

Thanks, I could've bought all used parts to try and keep the price down a bit more but I got great deals on all the new parts I bought, so why bother?

The i3-4170 was new, bought it from a friend for $70 CAD (friend's HTPC project that he decided not to do)

The RAM was new but I bought it on sale at my local CanadaComputers for $70 CAD (4x4GB DDR3 2400)

The PSU (seasonic SSR-650RM) also new, got it on sale at Newegg.ca for $120 CAD (taxes and shipping included)

The Sandisk Ultra II 120GB SSD was bought for less than $50 CAD at my local BestBuy (price match)

The rest is pretty much free stuff I got and leftover parts from my previous C2Q build, and the HD7870 was less than $20 CAD when I took into account the money I got when I sold my HD7770.

Despite all this, and I explained it, (I think it was in "show your setup") I still had a few reply saying I could've build something better ... lol

Gets call from reception: "My computer screen is blue and the computer doesn't work, can you fix it?"

Me: Walks to the computer.

Me: "Yes, your screen is blue... BUT THAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND, and your computer is just working fine..."

Reception: *Jaw drops*

Me: *Walks away*

lol

I swear I had calls similar to this (and that's why I have lost hope in humanity);

Quote

Once I got called to the office of a co-worker (let's call him Joe User) to help him figure out his username (he knew his password).

  • Me: "Your username is 'Joe User'."
  • Him: "Unacceptable! How much am I supposed to remember? I can only remember a certain number of things."
  • Me: "Wouldn't one of those things be your name?"
  • Him: "I guess I'll have to write it down."

He proceeded to write his own name on a sticky note and attach it to his monitor.

Well, nevermind.

I recently overheard this family conversation:

  • My Mother-In-Law: "The computer you have works, right?"
  • My Husband: "Yes, it's brand new, why?"
  • My Mother-In-Law: "Well I was wondering if I could put mine like that."
  • My Husband: "What do you mean?"
  • My Mother-In-Law: "Well the big box, it's on the wrong side."
  • My Husband: "What big box?"
  • My Mother-In-Law: (pointing to the CPU case) "That one."
  • My Husband: "I don't know what you mean."
  • My Mother-In-Law: "Well ours is on the right."
  • My Husband: "It doesn't matter which side it's on, as long as the cable reaches."
  • My Mother-In-Law: "Really?"
  • My Husband: "Really."
  • My Mother-In-Law: "So that means I can put the printer anywhere too?"
  • My Husband: (chuckling) "Yeah, Mom."

It appears the writer is a non-techie too.

I've read some of the others too, and whenever the people refer to the computer they always say CPU instead of computer.... I find it very strange but it's pretty universal on that website.... Not sure why though.

*Friend tries to make minecraft server*

Friend: Do you want to join my server?

Me: What's the IP?

Friend: 192.168.1.172

Me: That's a local IP, I can't join that.

Friend: Want a port?
Me: I don't think you understand.

Friend: How do you do it then?

Me: I have to be on your network to access that server.

Friend: Then how did you create one?

Me: That's a LAN server, not an actual server. To make an actual server, download the client from minecraft.net

Friend: I did

Me: Then portforward the port 25565

Friend: Like 192.168.1.172:25565
Me: nononono

Friend: how u do it

Me: *Sends 17 minute long YouTube tutorial*

Friend: *3 minutes later* *sends public IP*

Me: Did you portforward/run the server?

Friend: I searched up IP. I ran the server, but I can't join.

Me: *gets agitated* THAT'S BECAUSE YOU NEED TO PORT FORWARD IT

Friend: *5 minutes after I sent the video* WHERE DOES HE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT IT

Me: *Sends video link with timestamp found in 30 seconds*

Friend: WHERE IN THE VIDEO -_-

Friend: nvm

Me: Please watch the whole video

a few messages later

Friend: I can't login to my verizon thingy

Me: What router do you have?

Friend: A Verizon-fios one

Me: What model is the router?

Friend: FIOS G-1100

Turns out my friend couldn't port forward anyway, because his dad said it was dangerous (which is true to an extent).

Don't die thread!

Anyways, I just remembered how when I was young, I thought blu-Ray meant that all the pictures on the dvd were blue colored lol. I think it was because Avatar characters were bluish and I heard avatar was on blue ray, so I assumed blue ray meant that the pictures were blue colored

"When I was young" "Blu-Ray"

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

lol my "when I was young" quotes are more in the lines of:

"I saw the VHS vs Beta format war!"

"Our first VHS recorder was $800 CAD"

"The cable remote was wired to the cable box"

seriously, it looked like this;

When I was young:

A 20" CRT was considered large, the Fax machine had just been introduced, Apple II was awesome (still is), and Americans were slim.

Common scenario with my friends: You're a programmer right? Can you reformat my PC? (for free)

Now normally, NOT ALL programmers know how to reformat a PC, much less diagnose an error, but in my case I did. So nothing spectacular here.
