Ryzen 5 2600X a worthy upgrade from i5 6600k?
FRN replied to FRN's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Yes, my H7 has been serving me well for my 6600k even at 4.5Ghz. Im just not sold to AIOs as one already gave up on me. X52 Kraken. -

Geez! Good thing I asked first. Might go with a dual tower this time. Maybe a Dark Rock Pro 3? What cooler are you using now? Thanks. -

I get your point now and I think its worth considering. However I'm not so sure if my CPU + the cash I'm willing to use will cover up the price of that 7700k. I had plans for selling my current CPU and Motherboard and add just a little more for a Ryzen platform which costs considerably cheaper than Intel's. -

Yup, my CPU and Motherboard is already posted in a marketplace. Lets see if I have enough bucks to throw in a beefier cooler. -

For what I've seen in most YouTube videos, overclocking the 2600X doesn't yield huge gains in performance so I might just run it stock and let XFR 2.0 take control. -

Its cheaper by $48-give or take. -

I have a Cryorig H7 tho. I'm not sure if Cryorig will provide the bracket for free (shipping and all). If not, it would probably cost me shipping so I might just use that money for a better cooler. -

Yes that is my case. The 1600X is almost priced the same as 2600 non X (at least here in my place). -

Been running an i5 6600k clocked at 4.5Ghz for games until I bought a GoPro Hero 5. I'm starting to use the CPU more and more and I'm probably asking a dumb question and should just go for it

That's a lot, thanks. I do have an NZXT S340 Elite so I think I'll be fine with height clearance for the case. I also checked PCPartPicker and found one Maximus/H7 combo and it was ok.

I lost my faith on AIOs when it broke last Monday. I think my GSkill Ripjaws V is fairly low profile. x52 is currenty under NZXT's inspection as per store that I bought it from. I'm not going to wait for it and replace it immediately with an air cooler for lower maintenance. Then I'll sell the x52 when it arrives. I can sell it almost with the price of a brand new one.

Hi Guys, I'm replacing my NZXT Kraken x52 with a Cryorig H7. Im wondering if it will fit with my motherboard being an Asus Z270F Strix Gaming. Anybody on this setup?
