I got pure gold for you today folks.

Yesterday my partners sister was trying to download files, she uses a laptop all the time for facebook but then she suddenly asked if it was okay to shutdown the laptop or if doing that would delete the files she downloaded the same day as that a user here had a thread with thirty or so replies about all his files opening in VLC using Windows Explorer turns out he had the default programs configured to always use VLC to open folders and files :/

it is not bad, but why did they put the GT 730 when it is equal to a Skylake iGPU

Could be for the additional/different video outputs? Onboard graphics outputs on the motherboard I/O generally only have two options. It isn't that far-fetched to install a graphics card to use more than two screens. "Workstation" doesn't have to mean "super high powered computer".

Isn't that the default behaviour for using a "guest account" on Windows and Mac?

Unless you need HDMI, as the GT210 does not have that output (it has DVI, VGA, DisplayPort) :)

Also you can game on an i3, some even game on Pentiums (dual-cores w/o HT) ... if I'd listen to everyone here I would've bought an unlocked i7 and a 980ti. I'm perfectly fine with my i3-4170 and HD 7870!

Just saying, if someone is happy with their setup then I don't see the problem.

^^ Agreed.

I have a friend who started off with an okay potato build (Pentium G3258 + some old passively cooled GT XXXX) and later he then got a R9 380 on the cheap, and he's happy with the performance.

It doesn't handle CPU intensive games well (like Arma III) But his next planned upgrade is an i5 4690.

Back to topic (TLDR at the bottom);

how you f*** yourself up ...

So, I'm still working on the "Leftover build" (waiting for the case) and since it's a gaming rig for my nephew I thought I could introduce him to a few older but still great games. So I went to my box filled with CD and DVD games and pulled out;

- Fallout 3

- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

- Dead Rising 2

- GRID 2

plus a few others I forgot. First game was Oblivion, install went fine, then I opened the game to test it out and horror!!! I had TONS of artifacts!?!?!?! First reaction was to check the GPU for damages (it really looked like a GPU dying, if you ever saw one), but every other games and benchs ran fine without any glitches or artifacts ... this was then followed by 3 hours or uninstall/restart/install/graphic option tweaks but NOTHING was fixing the artifacts I was getting.

During one of the uninstall/install waiting time, out of boredom, I turned around the game box (like this box) and realized one of the system requirements was DirectX 9.0c ... *FACEDESK*

After installing DirectX 9.0c the game plays at a stable 80fps with the settings all maxed out! :D

TLDR; ALWAYS read the system requirements of a game, also DX11&DX12 aren't direct replacement for a DX9.0c redist.

But honestly, if you just showed me that game and told me it was from this year (assuming I knew nothing about it) I might believe you.  Nothing about it really feel outdated; not visually, not gameplay-wise... nothing.

I'll edit that. I did reread that a couple of times before I posted it. I am not that great at finding errors in my writing, you can also probably tell when I am at school since I have to use a web browser without spell check  so I can browse the forum.

I am a newbie that has been on the forum for close to a year and has posted 200 shy of 6,000 posts, I am still at the stage where I could make a "SHOULD I GET A GTX 1080 or a HD 5450?" thread and no-one would notice. Typos are just an added bonus.
