I cry internally whenever I see someone still using Windows XP. Externally when they think it's still good enough.

I'm fine with them using it for something like a HTPC or something non-demanding. It makes me cringe externally when I see them trying to do AutoCAD on a jesus-level rendering machine (with xeons) using XP professional. 

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.

I had a teacher who asked me how to save a downloaded picture to the Desktop... So I gave her the two options: Drag & Drop, or Export. :D I have no idea how she couldn't figure it out,and she was on a Macbook Air... :D

 

Have you tried to restart it?

I was told by someone today that they have a terabyte of RAM when I was talking about my laptop only having 4GB. I said back, are you sure you have a terabyte of RAM? She was completely sure of it. I even told her shes talking about her hard drive and not her RAM. She insisted she has a terabyte of ram. I blame best buy/whatever horrible place she bought it from.

Happened to a colleague of mine.

 

Had an email come into our ticket system from a handler I guess you could call him for one of our clients. Apparently the boss of the company called us for help about "a login box [that] keeps appearing for his Outlook" and apparently no one called him back.

 

So my colleague called the guy, apparently he never called (dafuq1).

 

Turns out that login box was a Windows Security pop up (dafuq2) and the reason it kept popping up was because he didn't check the "remember my details" box (dafuq3).  <_<

 

 

 

Another story

 

One of our clients have this, in some ways clever, in some ways stupid, system where they remote from their own computers to a server, through which they access files on another server and also use a program that stores its database on this second server.

Everyone I've spoken to from this company doesn't seem to realise that they're remoting onto a secondary machine before accessing the main server (which confuses me a lot because when they complain of their issues I can never be sure what machine they're referring to).

Some idiots also access their email from this primary server and someone downloaded an encryption virus and fucked their entire system over.

Oh god, this thread is my life. My highlight from today was "I've made my taskbar disappear".

I walked over and hit F11 to take her internet explorer window off full screen... and boom there it was. "Oh, how did you do that?"

 

...I hate my colleagues.

The teacher said "i could have called the police and blah blah blah".

I was being hysterical while doing facepalms.

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

A friend of mine once uninstalled his graficscard's driver and then called me and some other friends on skype because he couldn't play Metin 2 anymore. Now he owns a 1600 ish gtx780 setup and still plays the crappy Metin 2 DERP

Short funny story.

Dad is an engineer. Can probably build a pc withouth help or breacking components and make it work.

But ones he asked me how to pause a YouTube video. Silence ... then mental face palm then I went on talking five minutes about how he is so smart and YouTube so intuitivly usable and he would probably find it and finished it by saying "over there".

He thanked me at least

Kelvin is clearly the superior measuring system. Just like mol/L are superior to that stupid consumer percentage ((g/L)*100%) that consumer products usually have their concentrations expressed in.

Customer walks into the IT shop I worked at. She looks around (Computers and gadgets everywhere) . She walks to the counter and asks me if we sell clothes.

Reminds me of when a guy came into the place where I work (bagel sandwiches) and asked if we still do the $5 foot long thing. The thing that makes this even better is that the same guy came in the next week and asked the same thing... I have no idea if he was serious or not...

when it comes to high school kids. and they dont have access to their parents router/modem way back in 20010ish time i suggested hamachi. we was using teamviewer.
on the new tab window. there was a bunch of porn websites and scam sites saying YOUWIN!!! in their recent viewed history boxes on the new tab page. i ignored it because i knew they wouldnt listen. so they install hamachi. and a virus activates. and they rant and rave that hamachi is a HUGE virus because it made them BSOD. and upon trying to help them with their problem they threaten to sue me for harrassment and hacking their computer to put virus' on it.
