The Yeti Blackout and the Yeti Pro from Blue are widely respected as standards for reasonably priced desk microphones... Can they make you sound like a radio personality, even if you shouldn't?

I love my Blue Snowball, and it sounds just as good as those mics(off to the side), but with a few less features.  It also picks up on EVERYTHING, mouse clicks, dog barking, A/C turning on, typing, etc..

I might have to mess with mine in audacity. I would love to know the distance from his mic to mouth (roughly) when he had it in the off to the side position for the yeti blackout.

 

I'm still trying to figure out my yeti silver edition to get the best sound possible (i.e. eliminate background noise)

If you turn down the sensitivity and speak closer to it, it helps a lot.

I'm spending this week, ordering random accessories/adapters to make it sound proper.

Your last video had a sound clip with you testing how well it removed the sound of the keyboard and mouse. The SL300 clearly won that one, but how do the yetis stand up in that exact same scenario? Also, there was no mention about how non of the mics can use a standard shock mount. Do you feel that they really need a shock mount?

Yes, I would like to see a review of the AT2020 as well. I have one and it's one of the best mics I have ever owned!!!

You could've just said it was an XY pattern that lends itself towards instrument recording (ie. guitar) or anything you'd want to record in stereo. Also, the Yeti Pro manual boasts that it has a higher quality ADC than the regular Yeti.

Overall a good, helpful review, but here's some ideas for other mic reviews:

-I'm not sure if it's possible, but taking the windscreen off the top to reveal the capsules and see their orientation would've been a cool thing to show.

-Mentioning that it's a side address mic (like the Seiren and most desktop mics) as opposed to front address like live stage mics.

-Could also mention that their frequency response curves are located in the manual for those curious.

-And finally, a comparison of recordings using the built in ADC (and USB connection) vs. the XLR on the pro through another audio interface would be helpful to hear, but that might be getting too far into audiophile territory.
