That's surprising, I've been amazed how stable its been when most of the time I have my gaming PC on 5G so game updates don't take forever.  I did buy it at launch but didn't really get into it until the end of 2019 and played it regularly since with only the odd disconnection.  Although it does go down once a week I believe to reset the weekly challenges.

Huh, must have been unfortunate timing on my part then. I used a Fibernet 150/300Mbps line, so my internet wasn't the problem + I was searching Google and YouTube for solutions. Ultimately, steam support couldn't resolve the problems for me (they're near useless though), and I was not going to spend too much time debugging any recreational activities - I get enough of that in my studies, so I just returned it.

Thank you! Where did you find that. I went to: https://stats.foldingathome.org/team/223518

This only shows the first ~10K members, the team has  ~115K...

F@H stats are pretty limited, best to use EOC stats. https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_list.php?s=&t=223518

Ahh.. well I run the stats script for the event so I just looked in the data for the event.

You can look here https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/search.php, it's the best place to look at FAH stats etc.

For the record, your Folding badge (and everyone elses) double as a direct link to your FAH stats, and I always use the XOC links over the stats.foldingathome links as they show a lot more information.

image.png.b1a3ca2a41c89b0525c3f263dff0466a.png

From there, you can easily find the Team stats in the top right left hand corner, as well as details on highest current PPD on the team, how many users are within a certain amount of points, projected position overtakes, etc.

I moved the GTX 680 from my living room PC to my workstation (Dell Precision T3500 - used through RDP mostly), and the driver was already installed from a previous Nvidia card (Quadro NVS 295) and it seemed to be working fine. I was able to run my monitor at 2560x1440@75Hz without issue. However, soon after I started folding I was met with a failed message. In all my years of folding I've only had this happen once, but I don't remember what I did to fix it.

What should I do to get this card folding again?

Definitely dead hardware involved.  I'm thinking it is the APU rather than the MB or RAM, since it happened when I started GPU folding on it.  The system hard locks whenever graphics is used, DVI or VGA, and even with a linux liveCD and in the Windows Installer and RAM without XMP.  I can use BIOS and text UIs seemingly forever though, which again leads me to believe it is most likely the 3d acceleration portion of the APU's GPU.  Any other thoughts or suggestions from folks to try to make that a definitive, other than buy a GPU (LOL)?  I'd hate to buy a replacement APU for the system and it have been the MB.  I've cleaned and reseated everything to no avail.

After initial testing, the gpu portion lived the rest of its life underclocked/undervolted (600mhz, 0.9v) to save on power/heat since it was basically a headless system, while the CPU portion was left mostly normal (slightly underclocked/undervolted, but by 0.1v and only a couple hundred mhz reduction).  So I really don't understand what would cause this.

Thankfully, I'm still JUST inside the 3 year AMD warranty for the APU...though I have no idea how their warranty/RMA will go once I exhaust any other troubleshooting options.

Well try reducing to 1 stick of ram in Channel A slot 1 see if issue continues if same issue move stick to channel B slot 1 and test if same issue try1other module if still locks up you likely have a bad Igpu I had a 2400G smoke the GPU 120 days in they replaced it and it has been running strong since only change was a Noctua cooler was added rather than the stock.

Mine developed a faulty charge port, repaired under the last few days of the warranty, it came back with faulty speakers. 😕

Mind you, its slow as sludge, using it as a wall clock which is about all its fast enough for.

it played Spotify just fine and had a headphone jack for audio out...i did manually strip out windows 10 Home on it to be very base. and very minimal background tasks. not even team viewer...

i would strip the drivers and reinstall the drivers. that worked for me last time one failed and make sure to not have it set to overclock

Has anyone noticed that the default AMD Radeon fan profiles when using 2 5700xts in a system are a quick recipe for a power shutdown to protect the GPUs from overheating?  Or maybe I should say it this way.  When using 2 5700xts in a system (no, not crossfire) the first GPU will overheat very quickly because it's starved of cooling air because the second card is nestled right next to it, and of course, the default fan profile caps at about 60% fan speed (for both GPUs).  Why doesn't AMD detect that there's 2 GPUs in the system, which the Radeon Control Panel can already see, and automatically adjust the fan profile for the first card to something appropriate for use.  Or how about a fan profile generator that automagically adjusts the various fan profiles under synthetic load.  After all, there is a stress test in the Radeon Control panel software.  Why not use the stress test first just after you install the drivers and support software and get a GOOD profile loaded before the customer uses the two GPUs.  Yes, the first card in the system (the one in the primary PCIe slot) will have to have it's profile moved upwards by a lot.

Having the fan profile cut off at 60% no matter how hot the GPU gets is seriously short sighted.  Unless you're AMD, at which point you keep your RMAs busier (assuming replacement stock exists - haha), or you get to sell another GPU to an irate customer because they've cooked the card (too often?).

Yes, I wasn't aware of this shortcoming, so when F@H hit those GPUs with work, you guessed it, immediate power down in less than 30 seconds.

Sheesh.

No, they're not blower designs.  Triple fan design (Gigabyte 5700XT Gaming OC 8Gb), but a bit on the chonky side.  When nestled in their respective PCIe slots, the top GPU is a bit starved for air as it's temps are much higher than the lower one (who gets a good shot of cool air from the bottom mounted fans in a Lian Li O11 Air case).

Ah yes, the good ol' days.  I got my 5700XTs for $550 each (CDN) during mainly mainstream prices times.  Good card, but they're definitely not Aorus versions.  I was happy with them, and still am.  However, the 6xxx series puts them to shame now, as my Powercolor Red Dragon 6800XT is over 3 times faster (on Folding).  Yes, also 3x more expensive.  Things are relative I guess.

Or should I be comparing them to the 6900XT (since the 5700XTs were the fastest AMD at the time)?  Then things look even worse.  5x faster and less than 3x the price.  Yes, I got my 6900XT pretty close to MSRP!!!

Please compare GPU to GPU class unless the new units put the highest class to shame (like the 3070 basically did to the 2080 Ti)

So compare the the 6700 XT to the 5700 XT as they are the same classification of card and similar pricing (MSRP).

Sheesh.

Shutdown Radeon and start up afterburner and throw the fans on 100% see if that fixes it. My 5700 XT runs hot (originally a open box/blower and yes it ran hot then too) but I've not had any issues, tho it's water not air.

Also are you sure the PSU isn't the cause? Just because you have a x watt unit doesn't necessarily mean those watts can go via the PCI cables. Your PSU will crap out if you draw too much power.

No worries there.  The system is running fine on the Seasonic 850W Titanium.  But its the thermals that result in the upper 5700XT yielding about 100K PPD LESS than the bottom one.  And yes, I've dialed in a much more agressive fan profile for the upper 5700XT to try and compensate.  After all, the upper GPU has to suck air off the lower one's backplate, and as you've mentioned, they do indeed run hot.

As for these cards individually in a system, they run great.  I can usually extract another 100K PPD out of them (as compared to with two cards in a system) with some smart OC settings.  Usually around 1.5 million or so (in Linux).  Here's a snapshot from LAR Systems of the 5700XTs in Linux, until I stopped and ran them in Windows (hence the Linux numbers dropping to zero).

Ok just making sure. Windows just sucks down GPU performance, so some loss is to be expected, how much depends on what said windows system is doing.

Personally I just turn them to 100% and say done when doing things like this. Sure it's nosier but at least I know I'm getting the coolest temps possible without upgrading something. (My 1070 had cooling issues too due to the weird fan curve as well)

My only suggestion outside of using risers etc to relocate the second card for better airflow is maybe upgrade the case fans or reconfigure them to a negative pressure setup.

OK so @GOTSpectrum can continue his Percussive Maintenace on Foldatron Here are the stats

I don't have the Poetic side that Spec has, but I would like to say there has been no change whatsoever in the top 19 today, but looks like today may be the last day where we don't have someone in the 1M slot for the event. @IgorSinelnikov Appears to be trying to channel Den_fi with 65 Mill this update @miker07 Is in danger if Igor keeps this up and may get past. @PhoenixKG & I am Looking forward to moving up tomorrow. What percentage of people who signed up have folded every day of the event so far?

I picked up an unexpected system today - it's another Dell Precision T3500. It's full of dust, and the original RAM didn't work, but I got it up and running. It makes a convenient temporary home for the R9 270 so it can fold for the rest of the event.

Good to know the support request is likely to go well.  Hope they still have them available...or will give me a 5600g instead if they don't have any more.  The clause for refunding is...downright scary at this point, since CPUs were a LOT cheaper then.

idk what they will send, they sent me a 2400g to replace the 2400g even though the 3400g was out by then. it all has to do with stock though u would'nt imagine they would upgrade it. I Doubt they willrefund it as that would be bad PR doing that crap...

I'd be fine with the same thing back if it works.  I just have doubts they still have 2400g chips and the 3000 series APUs appear to have craptastic linux support.

I guess as I don't want to leave out some one that has hit a milestone spot @HeavensLastHope Welcome to 20th.
