My Mac-Mini WU performance has tanked, should I reduce the cores to discourage use of the efficiency cores?  At first it seemed to help to use all cores, but it seems some projects REALLY don't like it.

 

Of course it would help if FAHControl worked properly on that machine, for some reason it constantly loses connection to FAHClient making changing settings problematic.  I don't understand it as I can telnet into FAHClient absolutely fine, but FAHControl and my monitoring script goes through periods of just not working.

I'm not sure how to comment on these posts, but the data showed me fear of my folding machine rebooting constantly throughout the day. Such a bummer.

Almost 2K (CAD) for a $650~ card? Go jump. My 5700 XT while the cheapest model was about $550 retail the 6700 XT is going for nearly $1200... Or about double the MSRP...

my next card will likely be an amd (7000 series) as i want to be able to mine with it as well...and nvidia screwed them selves. as i aint buying a card that is handicapped.

Tell me about it. I paid $210 USD for my XFX RX 570 4GB back in late 2017, and that was already well above MSRP at the time thanks to mining. I could sell that card today and make a decent chunk of money from it. What other computer component appreciates in value that much over such a short period of time? Especially a GPU of all things.

Does that handicap hinder folding as well tho? I'm happy with my 5700 XT slightly cheaper than nvidia drivers a bit lacking but I don't use many of the "features" to make it worth while. It also seems to preform far better than what compare sites state too which is a huge plus.

Yup, GPU's are Teslas of the computer industry right now... One thing changes and used crap gets a price boost... That statement was true a few years ago not sure about now.

I do like the fact I can sell my 1070 for around what I paid for it today lol... Tho it's a shitty time for anyone wanting a card, if prices don't come down I don't think I'll be replacing the 5700 XT for my next build.

@FakeKGB I'm not sure about your problem, but ahh, the 650 Ti Boost....that takes me back. My first gaming computer had a 650 Ti. Other than the 1GB VRAM limitation, it was a decent card.

I have the 2GB Superclocked edition and it holds up surprisingly well for my usage. I used it mainly for Minecraft Java and Dolphin Emulator. MC worked great - I got about 200 FPS if I cranked it to unlimited and that was probably a Java limitation. Dolphin struggled a bit if I tested heavier levels in Super Timmy Wii (imagine if a 5-year-old made a Mario game) so I upgraded to a GTX 690 after selling some old Socket 3 hardware that I wasn't using.
