PCIe utilization is typically much higher in Windows for some reason, likely to do with how Windows manages contention for the bus. Here's my 2060's PCIe utilization on a PCIe3 x16 slot running at x8 under Linux:

dcn05s01_PCIutil.thumb.png.78b38768528ae555267aaaca86d76d82.png

It seems that the utilization is higher on some work units lately (At least in the past year). I'm considering building a new system, dedicated for compute, in the future. It's still in the works, however.

Are there any motherboards out there that support dual bifurcation?

Not totally sure how this effects the process, but a GPU Core Release is happening tomorrow:

https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=37545

I wonder if the 7.6 version of OpenMM will fix the performance regressions I'm getting with 5.13 kernel and the new 21.40.1 (that just came out) AMD drivers.

So setting up my P4 I noticed something with my new corsair power supply... It comes with a floppy cable, what does my P4 have? A floppy... I now feel legally obligated to bring that old piece of tech back to life, but I'm missing my floppy cable and the motherboard doesn't support it either 😭

So WHY Corsair WHY...

I'm setting everything up so the minute it's (HDD) ready I can install and go, hopefully Monday.

Edit: Uh, should I? (for my 640)

Well, here's my take on the performance degradation for the Linux kernels and AMD drivers that I've been doing over that last number of days.

5.8.63 Kernel, AMD 21.10 drivers - 100% (I'll use this as the baseline) - Note: No 5950x temperature monitoring (you're flying blind).  Average 6900XT performance ~5.8 million.  Corectrl GPU overclock supported, but not memory.

5.11.40 kernel, AMD 21.20 drivers - 55% of baseline - 5950x basic temperature monitoring.  Average 6900XT PPD performance ~ 3.2 million.  Corectrl can't overclock GPU

5.11.40 kernel, AMD 21.30 drivers - 53% of baseline - 5950x basic temperature monitoring.  Average 6900XT PPD performance ~3.1 million. Corectrl can't overclock GPU

5.13 kernel, AMD 21.40.1 drivers - 43% of baseline - 5950x temperature monitoring including individual CCD temps.  Average 6900XT PPD performance ~2.5 million. Corectrl GPU overclock supported, but not memory.

Note: Average PPD performance was done on the SAME WU.

Ok, main system back to 5.8.63 and 21.10.  Let those PPD flow for Folding month.

That one, it crash's AMD Radeon Software every time I try to load it 🤣

And before anyone says anything about the age of the driver...

Also no I'm not restarting my computer, it gets a restart when it crashes, also my RGB on my ram have come back upon reloading iCUE tho so did the bubbles for 20 minutes...

FYI removing+adding the gpu fixed the issue(further up the log before closing showed 50% not 99%), but first F@H had a hissy fit and claimed I had no GPU 🤣

Edit: Nvm... still doing it 20 minutes no progress... Looks like someone is getting a Paddlin'
