What do you define as real chocolate?

I have eaten cacao nibs in the Amazon and it tastes awful.

80% dark chocolate gave me the worst headache in my life.

I do agree some people eat some fake shit with seed oil instead of either cream or the cacao butter.

And this whole topic reminded me of the best jam I've eaten, also made from cacao, but it is from the pulp, not the seeds.

The forum sticky header should not be sticky.

(it was unsticky)

The site design is also better without a forum header.

The SiS 315 is actually a good card for retro PC - working HW T&L, good 32bit colour performance relative to 16bit colour, sits in between a GF2 MX200 and 400 (as the 143MHz SDR version - DDR would be near MX400), while also being faster than a Radeon VE (HW T&L only enabled in very late drivers). It is also a very low power card that handles DVD playback well (only frame drops in F8 Fate of the Furious last night were only when interacting with VLC and Windows UI).

I can say the same for the S3 Savage4 GT (110MHz core, 125MHz SDRAM), which has fantastic 32bit colour performance (10% performance loss at most), the S3 Metal API (Quake modded to run under it is flawless), can process 2 pixel per pass on its single pipe (aka, that's why performance ranges between Riva TNT and standard TNT2 in some games).

All personal vehicles larger than a 1996 Toyota Corolla should require special licensing and some criteria of justification to use.

IMG_7236.thumb.jpeg.3c7b618de11f3cb544f4f3d3abbfc836.jpeg

There is no justifiable reason that one person should ever be driving something this size:

IMG_7237.jpeg.d9c598437395bc50de016cd605c7af0b.jpeg

Without reason to do so. A business, a farm, the towing capacity, etc. I should never see this vehicle at Walmart unless they’re picking up a pallet of bricks.
That vehicle should never be in an elementary school car pickup line unless the parents are farmers.

All non commercial use of vehicles that size should be banned from expressways entirely, made to use the slower highways instead.

All vehicles should be governed to 80mph maximum, anyone exceeding speed limits should receive substantially heavier fines and ideally ditch the fines entirely, suspend licenses for periods of time.
If the consequences for a crime is a fine, the crime does not apply to the wealthy.
If the consequences for speeding are you don’t get to drive for a month, you better have a backup plan because otherwise for many people that means losing their job. I think proper consequences and risks to dangerous actions are the best way to mitigate people chancing those actions.

American car dependent culture has reached a level where when mixed with the changing demeanor of the police over the span of Covid, people just drive however they want because there’s no consequences for their actions. The rising popularity of increasingly larger and heavier vehicles with poor visibility has only made that worse, when the outcome of people driving recklessly isn’t the tiny e100 Corolla knocking off a bumper, it’s the 7000lb Chevy Silverado vaporizing the Corolla, driving through a wall, or giving a pedestrian zero chance as they’re struck at chest level on the sidewalk.

I don’t think this is too unpopular of an opinion though with the most popular car in the US being the ford F150, I can see how it may be.

To what extent is your personal safety worth the danger to others? Driving a 7000lb brick with a bajillion airbags is pretty safe for the occupants and absolutely nobody else. Anything you hit dies.

We banned pop up headlights because of the danger they present to a pedestrian should they be hit. We banned angular faced sedans for the same reason. But somehow these flat faced pickups and SUVs with zero visibility are perfectly legal.

When behind me is a vehicle 3 times the size and weight of mine, shining led headlights directly into every mirror, casting a shadow of my car in my own headlights, I legitimately can no longer see what is in front of me or to the sides of me and definitely not behind me because the blinding holy light of GM has decided fuck my eyes. In that surprisingly common scenario I have every justification to believe I am in danger and I will act accordingly.

The speed limit is 55MPH. I went 56. Should I get a fine for speeding, and/or have my DL suspended? Guaranteed that unless you use cruise control, your speed is fluctuating, not even including the tolerances of sensors and speedometers.

just the same as now there’s a reasonable margin of error of radar guns and speedometers, nobody is gonna give you a ticket going 56 in 55 because you’re within that margin

going 57 is questionable, any further is an unquestionable ticket and should be license suspension

Why is 57 questionable but 58 is for sure a ticket and/or a license suspension? Why is that the defined boundary?

Because the boundary is 55, and the maximum variance a functional speedometer or radar gun would have is about 2mph.

Anything beyond that filters out error.

In my state of Missouri, you get charged according to increments of 5 mph over the limit. For instance, 5 over is a low level ticket, 10 is mid-range, and 15+ is the worst offenders. This is the case in all parts of the road and makes sense when you think about it. If I drive 30 mph in a 25 mph area, it is obviously not as reckless as if I drove 40-50 mph.

It all really revolves around braking speed. The higher you go, the longer that it takes you to come to a complete stop. Look up the figures yourself if you don't believe me. I believe that it takes about 100-300 ft to come to a full stop if you are going 70 MPH depending on the condition of your vehicle. With that in mind, it makes sense for the 5 MPH increment.

Having said this, I do agree with you that what the previous commenter listed is arbitrary rules with no scientific or logical basis.
