you cant say meat because fruit on cheese comparison would be cheese on fruit and meat is neither here nor there.

 

To which i reply - Cheese goes well with berries.

 

To which you say berries aren't fruit to which i say a tomato is a fruit and you still stick the tomato sauce all over pizza.

I've had it, it doesn't taste that good on pizza. It's edible, but I wouldn't go out of my way to specifically order it.

If I wanted sweet stuff on my pizza, I'd get one of those dessert "pizza".

That’s a hard pass for me. 
 

While oddly enough I LOVE the smell of Pineapple (and the juice is alright especially in multi-fruit cocktails/punches), I absolutely hate the taste of them.

Its the exact opposite for me. Pineapple by itself is great, but on pizza is bad IMO

I was gonna ask why this is so controversial, but I instantly realized, it's probably no moreso than any other ingredient.  People are going to be divided on that, that's just how tastes are - different.  The real question is why is this particular debate so much of a meme, and not anchovies, or peppers, or mushrooms, etc.?

Well, anchovies, peppers and mushrooms are all savory, while pineapple is sweet. 

With the foundational ingredients of a pizza being a generally acidic fruit (tomato), fatty cheeses and savory herbs, it's a bit strange to mix in a sweet ingredient. 

Kinda like eating a steak with blackcurrant marmalade. It's certainly a food item, but a stange one at that. 

it can certainly be done. Where I live it's a common occurrence to eat game meat with Ribes jelly. 

 

Although, anchovies can go fuck themselves, too. They're way too fatty and salty for good pizza.

It is far from my favorite pizza, but it's certainly also not a heinous act to like this type of pizza.

Pinapple on pizza is a nice deviation on the more regular pizza (cheese+ham) out there. I think the sweet taste of pineapple goes rather well with the taste of the tomato already present on most pizzas.

 

But as it stands, ordering pineapple on your pizza is a great way of making sure no one else will start eating your pizza, because of the prejudice over the ingredient.
