RTX 3000 series excitement post

Anyone else excited about the upcoming RTX 3000 series? Feels like we've been waiting for years now lol. I hope we'll see the release of the 3080 this year, well also 3080 Ti.

We have no idea if it will even come out this year. It has been delayed and as nvidia put it "We are in no rush"

I am not sure if I want to agree here. I am a pickle after all.

I won't be looking at them anytime soon. Even though money is not an issue for me, spending the current going rate on GPU's is a beyond my limit.

they are in absolutely no rush to release the new cards. its classic Nvidia tactic. Wait for AMD to release new gpu, then nvidia releases faster cards for a slight price increase. Then nobody buys amd because nvidia is faster.

Yeah... Unfortunately I think you're right. Nvidia probably does this again.

I just hope AMD can give Nvidia a run for their money. The GPU business could use some stiffer competition. But yes, pretty stoked for both new GPU's.:P

If that's the only thing stopping AMD from growing market share then they need to make better GPU's.

Well tbh ... Gpu progress is not very exciting as for the money I paid for my 970 back in the day I only would get marginal upgrade, even the 2060s for 100 bucks more doesnt feel like a substantial upgrade. So.... I don't freakin care, give me 32c in a mainstream socket

Yeah, I understand you. 

But a new, stronger than ever, GPU series is very exciting to me because I almost play at 4K resolution and I'd like to push 100+ FPS also. I kinda need good GPU horsepower

I suspect that prices will be absolitely ridicolous, Nvidia is in the same mindset as intel

I've been saving up for a long time, so money is not a problem, also I don't mind paying the premium / I don't think I'm "burning" any money, so I'm good

I will only be exited if they have HDMI 2.1. 

All my games can run at over 60fps at 4k with a 2080 ti with the exception of RDR 2 and it averages 59fps. With HDMI 2.1 my OLED TV I use as a monitor will do 120hz at 4k and then I will need an upgrade.

 

As for the cost, because of the current situation I don't know where I will be financially in a few months time so spending lots of money on things like GPUs may be a thing of the past for me.

Time will tell.

I have the 970, I do not think the upgrade from them to a 2060 is marginal.  The testing I have seen add 100 fps, to a game like Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.   that is from a base point of 35-40fps.

 

That is substantial.

 

More than that, I couldn't even get Shadow of the Tomb Raider to run on a single 970, and it would only load when i was running 2 of them in SLI - I didn't have SLI set-up prior to trying to run the game, as I had moved and forgot I took off the bridge so I didn't lose it.  Pretty sure it runs fine on a 2060 single card.

 

970 at launch was $329.  2060 at launch was $349 for a founders edition, according to Anandtech.

 

There is an inflation calculator online for US dollars that specifies that $329 dollars from 2014 is worth $358 today.

 

So the 2060 was roughly $9 dollars cheaper than the 970 would be in equivalent terms.

 

Sure Titan's and 2080 Ti's are ridiculous, but I am not sure much else has changed, other than performance.

Yeah true, I can only agree... And I do like my 1080 Ti but I still want more performance.

Why? Why would it have any impact on materalism at all?  Because people won't have money? I don't think that will be long term, if it comes to it, we will all just wear masks and gloves ALL of the time, but we will still work, and we will still earn and we will still buy stuff.
