Besides at the end of the day CPU or GPU you're still sucking a lot of power from the wall.

Found an old boot drive to throw in my esports/LAN PC (it is a catch all of old parts!) so it can contribute.

I'd recommend it. We got pummeled out of nowhere in Universe and Amicable isn't doing great out of the gate either. The least we can do is defend our position on Rosetta.

 

Speaking of, and as others had warned, looks like P3DN up'd their output in the past hour. Doesn't look like we'll be catching them.

I did remember to startup the 1950X rig before leaving for work though AND unlike last year the 3930K rig is running full tilt. I'm pushing everything short of the kitchen toaster. 156 threads of compute. Hope to add another 80 and a couple GPUs for next year.

so i now got 52 cores on Rosetta 

5 copies of Amicable 

1 Instance of F@H

 

so here is what im doing:

Bender now running 8 threads of Rosetta and 4 copies of Amicable 

Calculon is running 20 threads of Rosetta and F@H on GPU

Flexo is just running 1 copy of amicable

 

Been running Rosetta

Scooty Puff SR 8 cores

Nibbler 8 Cores

Scooty Puff Jr 8 Cores

In the Marathon, I think P3DN is strategically putting just enough CPU to keep us at arms reach. It would be fun to spike our output and make them react though

Maybe if we find ourselves a safe spot so-to-speak in the other events then have everyone bunker up Rosetta just to say "SUPRISE!" when we dump and jump over them for a day.

I have to say, I am impressed by us. Totally hectic, from all over the world, with barely any strategy and still managing to push quite well !

Considering we finished 10th last year but this year we're still holding 6th > 1/2 way through the event I hope to see us finish maybe, just maybe, top 5. That would be amazing.

So can I ask you guys that are hardcore into this.  How much does GPU contribute?  I would like to keep folding on FAH if possible, but if itll help the competition I can jump those over.  

 

I have both of my CPU's putting pretty much most of their resources to BOINC, with enough left over to FAH with the GPUs.  Is BOINC mainly a CPU thing or would GPU help much?

well it would help in amicable but you need 8GB ram free per instance on GPU 

 

i really wish rosetta had a GPU task if they did i would be 100% in on rosetta

It is the "cross country" event and is very highly gpu bound (you can run CPU on it but they are way better used on the "marathon" )

Hm... No definitive numbers for you, but I think I've been awarded more credits with Amicable Numbers (CPU + GPU tasks) and Universe (CPU + GPU tasks) than Rosetta (CPU tasks only) and NumberFields (CPU + GPU tasks). YMMV, though.

Yep. I'm running BOINC (for Rosetta) on my Android. Stats are here, if you want to check it out. Contributions are kinda minimal, lol. Something something, every little bit helps, something something? Definitely drains the battery, but I don't use my phone much so I don't really care. 

 

Also had a hiccup while fiddling around with BOINC Android settings (fixed now), so those credits reported for the past month are lower than usual.
