BOINC Pentathlon 2020

Yeeeeaah, and the 5960X rig is out of the running...s***...why Ubuntu. Why do you ask me to install all updates before upgrading when you discontinue the update servers forcing me to clean install?

Welp. I think I have the time to install Ubuntu Server 20.04 today. I really don't want to but...FOR THE TEAM!!!

Might be safer to go for 18.04.4 for now and upgrade to 20.04 later - less teething pains

I was told the GUI has changed dramatically. Are you saying the CLI has changed a lot as well? That's all I'll be using in the server distro I'm not installing a desktop.

We aren't going to do Throw 4 and will target ~1.5m for this one then save over for throw 5. Only need to complete 3 throws out of 5.

No, I have one rig on 20 and haven't notices any weirdness but but I would AssUme that 18.04.4 would have less glitches as it's been around the block a few times

True. It's only the one rig though. My other 4 are running different distros that I don't intend to update for a while. If anything this'll be a good chance for me to test the general stability of the software.

So Ubuntu Server 20.04 is being installed but it is going ridiculously slow. Don't know if it's because if the media I'm installing to or of it's a system problem but the installer hasn't crashed or failed it's just going really stupid slow.

And consequently I needed a GPU so I could reinstall and as a result I had to shutdown the 3930K rig. Needed a GPU.

So we're doing Throw 3(NumberFields), which started around 3 hours back and ends tomorrow, targeting 1.5m; and then doing throw 5 afterwards?

NumberFields taking a long time to validate the tasks.

My first dump of 2188 tasks completed a little while ago. I just dumped another 1000 from the second earliest set of bunkers and they haven't validated yet so I'd say they're still working through a backlog.

@rkv_2401 Yes, participating on Throw3 currently and deferring Thow4 so we can bunker for the last Throw.

The strategy is if the last Throw is late enough I can bunker more which leaves more of other's resources for the other events.

Just submitted my 2nd set of bunkers as the first cleared. The validation is still a bit slow but hopefully it will speed up in an hour or so to the point I can dump the rest quickly so we can get an idea of how far we have to go to reach our Target of 1,500,000

For the RTX 2070 Cross Country and the 3600 Marathon maybe best, the Sprint event I have a feeling is not going to go well for anyone, total dice roll

I'll get them running after I finish my current WU's for FAH.

PS. If someone could check my understanding on bunking. So that is just holding points for before the event even starts. So like right now you would only bunker for the sprint?
