That shoudn't be a problem because I'm using an azure instance with over 100gb of ram. Also, It's been nearly 24hrs and its still at 11%.. 6 days remaining and going up.. Maybe I should tell it to not use CPU so it will only assign opencl_nvidia tasks

suspend the cpu tasks...

Amicable CPU tasks are definitely not worth it. 22hrs for the same amount of credit. Not sure if it's just me

that is correct they all worth the same. thats why i will only run gpu once the race opens.

Welp. Picking up all my CPU's and going back to the Marathon then in 10mins.

if you have a huge core count it works better/faster but still almost any recent gpu does very good

If the CPU credit isn't greater than the GPU credit then I think my CPUs would be better spent defending our position in the Marathon.

So @leadeater @Ithanul@miker07@Windows7ge lets start discussing strategy now rather than later for Javelin.

 

The current standings are:

• Throw1: 1 182 925
• Throw2: 1 532 526

I wasn't participating yet on Throw1 so I don't know if all the points came from CPU or other GPUs but I was able to contribute about 550,000 with under 2 days of bunkering (say 250,000 per day).

 

Now we have two throws back-to-back three days after the last throw so I should have about 750,000 bunkered at the start of Throw3, or, if we defer, 1,000,000 points at the start of Throw4.

 

Throw 4 ends at 00:00GMT on the 16th and the even ends at 00:00GMT on the 19th so there has to be one more throw starting either the 16th (nasty - worst case scenario), 17th or the 19th.

 

Currently with Javelin and Cross-Country there are 2 GPU events. I suspect that the last event will be CPU only, however, if it is GPU then that may throw a wrench into deferring.

 

So, do we defer on one of the next two throws and, if so, which one?

 

Deferring on Throw4 I suspect might be the best option as it would leave more days to bunker in advance of Throw5, worst case, only one day, best case, 3 days.

 

Deferring on Throw3 would give us 4 days of bunkers for Throw3 and leave some bunkers that could be left for Throw5 which may be especially useful if it is on the 16th or 17th.

Throw 1 560k points were from me from a few days bunkering on CPU. Throw 2 I contributed very little as I was doing Uni.

 

I can either bunker Javelin, do Cross Country or Marathon. Or split my systems across multiple of these.

I don't know how worthwhile CPU is for the Javlin throws or if most of the contribution comes from GPU. I have no GPU's to contribute and I just switched all my rigs back to the Marathon (Though my 5960X rig just gave up the ghost. I can't contact it anymore.)

 

If you guys feel better prepared to make the best throw on the 4th/5th toss then I'd say go for it as oppose to trying to nail it on the third. Provided the due by dates allow it.

 wouldn't mess with cpu on cross country, unless we are getting our butts handed to us. I would say we have to be confident we can beat throw 1 on javelin, but preferebly 1.4 mil or better. Maybe some recruitment from more active folding members, I don't think @Den-Fi has been participating yet. Bolstering our gpu output could make things easier.to meet our javelin goal, without pulling too much from cross country. Probably not worth actively pursuing 2nd in marathon, but at least build our lead on those behind us, for a little cushion to maintain 3rd, which would still be huge.

I only have CPU so for me it's Marathon or the other two GPU events that need the most. Fortunately I have enough CPUs to not be totally worthless but it's certainly not efficient.

im mostly all in on Amicable. Flexo is about to join amicable and leave folding for now.  calculons GPU is staying on folding due to AMD not doing well and Flexo gets to keep his 2060 till next wednesday...i would like to see more Nvidia Forces on amicable if they have the memory. only takes 8gb per GPU @Den-Fi   see if you can out do my 3x2060s lol im at 2M points so far counted...

I think 1.5 mil is a good target for Javelin. Since there are two events back-to-back, there isn't enough time to recharge our bunkers to give good throws in both. If we were to participate in the 3rd, are we confident we can hit 1.5 mil given the time since the last throw? Or has Amicable pulled enough of our GPU resources that we need more time and thus throw on the 4th. 

 

Does anyone have Javelin bunkers expiring before the 4th throw?

I'm going to do Cross Country for a bit to get some data on my production and compare to the leader boards etc and see where I stand, if it's not looking good I'll bunker for Javelin as I know I'm at least half decent for that. I am really tempted to try for 2nd in Marathon though, nothing other than it would be cool.
