LTT Folding Team's Emergency Response to Covid-19

Go to solution Solved by GOTSpectrum,

This event has ended and I recommend you guys head over to the Folding Community Board for any general folding conversation.

Oops I got kicked downstairs by the wife and got told I can take my noisy ass PC too 😂

Rocking some Bose sound cancelling over ear headphones, can still hear my noctua industrials but it is much more tolerable.

Did this once in a (dell?) Workstation, had to cut a hole in the side panel to 😂

Some motherboards used to come with endless PCIe slots, they should all be like that. Don't know why it stopped being a thing. Also I'm pretty sure either LTT, Jay or GN has done a video doing it lol

@scuff gang

Could you post a screen shot of your FAH web console or advanced client showing your Folding Name and Team, you're coming up as one of the people with no stats coming through and your provided Folding Name is invalid (FAH wouldn't accept it so it can't be right).

Yeah I put my name in wrong... I sent a message to the op but he's asleep

For some reason my image won't load, but my folding name is scuffed-gang and team is linustechtips_team's

all folding process is done locally. please dump your log file here as if your WU's are restarting you are not FAH stable

It's not sending or downloading, I have 40mbps download and 20mbps upload, so I assume it's something server side.

Give me a second to get the logs.

What you wrote sounded like the WU's were crapping out mid-processing

They are, I'll get the wu, I'll get to like ~2% on GPU and then it craps out, I'll go into advanced and it has "sending 0%" "receiving 0%" I just removed my GPU overlock so if that doesn't fix it I don't know what else, I can get the logs real quick if you need.

If the work unit is failing when it's being processed then it's often due to unstable overclocks.

yeah i've had that recently, afaik that's a server side problem usually seen when trying to download a work unit

Yeah my GPU is waiting for a work unit rn, its deducting estimated points to...

I was pretty sure it was from to much load on the servers, as my overclock is stable in timespy and furmark.

And my CPU has been chugging along happily at 4.4 ghz completed a few wus.

okay so those errors you've given are server side, they're related to failures in downloading or uploading a work unit, those errors are not related to anything that's happening when you're processing a work unit. things like that will being up something like STATE: FAULTY or sometimes you see clEnqueue errors (most usually it's energy array)

Yeah I'm just hoping I'll wake up and have some GPU wus done lol,

One thing, be careful with overclocking your GPUs. What can be a "stable" overclocking for gaming can result in dumped WUs. When gaming you could occasionally get a tiny artifact you don't even see and nobody cares, but here the slightest error will be detected, the WU is cancelled and returned as failed. So probably better to run at stock clocks for reliability.

I ran furmark overnight and it was still going in the morning, I would say that it's a stable overclock.

It may not crash, but you don't know if you get small errors now and then, but when folding these errors can add up and you get a failed WU

Well my 2nd PC never has issues with the graphics overclock and didn't have for about 6 hours of GPU folding yesterday, but it just dumped a WU for inconsistent results. Switched back to stock clocks.
