high loads = high power draw. high power draw = high heat output. Last time I ran FurMark, it was forcing my GPU to draw over 130% power (CPUID HWMonitor). Yes, it does check to see if your clock is stable, but that is not the only use for it. 

AIB boards usually are designed to draw more power than the AMD/Nvidia stated TDP for the GPU die, that's not FurMark that's the firmware on the graphics card doing that. If you really want to you can use AMD Radeon Settings and increase the maximum GPU power higher if you want but it's only a possible upper maximum it doesn't mean it'll draw that much.

 

You can't force anything to draw more power than itself wants to, you can only put a limiter on it. Power is not something you give or push on to something it is supplied and requested. Unlike voltage, but that's different thing than talking about power consumption.

 

Tools like HWMonitor use the default TDP of the GPU die so will almost always report over 100% when under maximum load.

my slow ass laptop is running a wu rn but my pc isnt it seemed like as soon as the one on my pc was done the one on my laptop started.

I was on dial up internet until a few years ago. Maybe around 2015 was when I got ADSL 8mbps?

How are you measuring its usage? Task Manager?
Task Manager doesn't properly show the usage by default. Look at the graphs for the GPU usage and click one of the graphs and change it to either Compute_? or CUDA and it should show proper usage there. Or use other programs that can show GPU utilisation.

I did all that, the only thing that showed it correctly was afterburner

Funnily enough I *just* updated that a moment before you asked

The problem with the passkeys is due to the emails being flagged as spam... There's no real ETA for a fix on that at the moment but some people have still been reporting the messages coming through after a few hours... Others not getting them at all.

 

If there's any other major disruptions please tag me or one of the other mods (Leadeater or TVwazhere would be best) and they can update the message. Major disruptions only though, need to keep the message brief. For everything else see the FAQ

When you click on the cpu or gpu tab, it will give a project description in the bottom right hand corner

yes you can fold on cpu on different machines, check slots and see if there's a cpu slot, plus cpu WUs are having stuck downloads too

since i'm not near my pc that is folding i'm not sure, it should be under configure and there should be a tab called slots but again, i'm not sure

You don't. Do not cancel/dump a project.

You can set them to Finish so that the project will complete and then the client will stop and won't download a new project.

considering how difficult it is to get wu at this point I would only cancel if you're having a hardware issue. If you absolutely have to cancel the work unit you can remove the slot it's on and wait till your pc drops it. The work unit not being for Corona virus isn't a good reason to drop the work unit, all your doing is making even more work for the overworked F@H servers
