I have a Swiss Army knife, I bought in Switzerland. Still sharp to this day.

I use the SpyderCo HoneyBee on my keychain - I bought it after Linus talked about it once on stream. I ended up buying the Bug Set 3 pack:

It includes the Bug, HoneyBee, and GrassHopper. I've been thinking about swapping out the HoneyBee for the GrassHopper, as every now and then, the HoneyBee is just a bit too small for some applications.

 

Though the small formfactor fits fantastic on my keychain. I wouldn't want to carry around a loose knife in my pocket for convenience reasons, and constantly remembering to clip one to my belt would likely just annoy me.

My now late Daddy gave me a hardside 2" Kershaw lock back about 25 years ago to replace the softside version he gave me about ten years before (like the new one, it was a sweet little knife but the the softsides came off about five or six years in). It still looks like brand new. I keep it in my purse but I don't carry it much anymore (I've become rather butch over the years) so I don't use it much.

 

When I'm at home, I use one of the three Telco knives I have strategically located in the house (those suckers are bullet proof!). Away from the house, I use the little key chain knife that masquerades as a key. It's a cheap piece of junk but it's handy; I just have to touch up the blade frequently.

 

I have no need for a large knife other than in the kitchen. I suspect some men who carry large knives are compensating for something.

Not necessarily a "pocket" knife.... but I've got a Ka-Bar Becker BK2 as the big boy blade.

Day to day I wear a Gerber knife that I sharpen monthly at least.

I have a cheap Swiss Army knife, which hopefully has a screwdriver on it. Just kidding, when I need a screwdriver, I use a proper one.

I hardly use that knife at all and never take it with me.

yeah i own more pocket knives than i am years old, i also forge some of my own blades, nothing big yet due to size of forge and quench tank. i also do decorative coat hangars and other odds and ends

When I was a kid, I got one. It had a knife, two types of saw, a scissor and other stuff I don't remember. Thought it was cool. Never used it for anything, though. I still have it and I still can't figure out a use case.

 

What are these things even good for?

Sadly knives are quite a taboo where I live and generally not recommend to just carry around.

I would love a decent flippy knife or whatever, but in the wrong circumstances many can be seen as a weapon.. Certain knives are weapons just on their own on the street! So that's a no go..

 

The wishy-washy laws and such regarding them has mostly had me stay away from them. I only have a simple-ish knife that I used to unbox stuff or just for general purposes.

I have some gerber, a cheap leatherman, and one of the classic fat Swiss Army knives (good ole Victorinox lads) somewhere. Usually have my Cold Steel Recon Mk1 on me or in my jacket, and that's about the limit of my knife-ery.

In my experience - as a Dutch person who has spent quite a bit of time being a tourist in Germany, Belgium and France - the Netherlands just does not have any stores selling knives and such (nunchucks, mace, etc.).

France is extremely laid back about it, having quite a few stores that sell this stuff. Same for Belgium. From what I seem to remember, I have seen some stores selling knives and such in Germany, but I may be mistaken.

Benchmade to me is one of the best US brands. I'd have to ask my dad what his work sells the most of.

If you ever want it cleaned, sharpened and everything checked and tightened it is 5-10$ to ship it back to Oregon and have that happen.

i really dont like the alpha-male-masculine-fratbro undertone of these knifes. in fact i hate anything that have a threatening look. so i got a pair of this from a local stationery store.

I've been carrying my Skyline daily for 5 or 6 years. Never had an issue with anyone over it, but 2/3 people carry a knife of some kind where I live. Just know when to leave it in the car if going somewhere that might have security.
