Don't you think it would be hilarious if you came in 5th but were disqualified because you managed all that in only 19 days and not 20?  I'd giggle.

Gotta love how the EOC chart just has no idea about me and is increasing the error cone.  LOL

@shaz2sxy I was getting a little concerned about your final push.  Glad to see you didn't quite get me.  19th place has been pretty comfortable for me after the first week or so.

Please consider an event using BOINC if for no other reason than their software is so much more user friendly!    (Also, if you do SETI then LTT could be credited with finding ET...):)

Hopefully the plan is to run a BOINC event a few months out as a warm-up before the big BOINC Pentathlon next year.  This way folks can get familiar with the client and learn how to setup and run it.

@GOTSpectrum, you the one to message to add a prize right?  Sent ya a DM about the drawing I'm still working on to be added as a prize for this event.

I have used both in the past and think they equally have their quarks.

That said, from what i have seen here and on other forums a lot of peoples setup/downtime issues are tied to overclocking and trying to squeeze that little bit more of performance out of their devices and the client locking up for hours / days until they notice and can reset them or trace the issue.

Something to keep in mind, in something like this contest you should take a look at your before and after overclock performance and figure out the % of performance boost, and how many hours / days that buys you compared to baseline if it craps out.

I tend to take the approach of up time is king! If my systems are running the most modest but 100% stable OC and go day and night, then that's better than a small OC performance boost that might thermal throttle or lock up my system for hours while I'm sleeping or at work loosing more PPD than if I never overclocked at all.

Agree.  Overclocking setup for a game does not equal out to a solid one for F@H and BOINC.  Big reason I make sure to dial-in custom profiles for F@H and per BOINC project.  In the case of F@H, best to find the stable clocks for all WUs as some can hit harder than others.  At most, if I do run stock clocks, I at least run a custom fan curve for the GPUs if air cooled.

I totally agree with this.  I had one of my 2080ti's OC'ed.  It is very stable in gaming and even in 3DMark stress tests; however, every couple of days, the who thing would crash (usually while I was at work,) so in the long run, I made more points going to stock than I what I would have had I kept fighting dialing in an overclock.

I just posted this in the update thread.

Quote

Finished 16th, not too bad without any bought hosting power.

I produced 126M points during the 35 days. that is an average of 3.6M points each day. I In total i doubled my total points for LTT, at about 258M points. and now i am in 49th place of all LTT folding team. That will proberly drop some places during the next few weeks while i take a break.

I will be offlining all my folders for a couple of days at least. But this is not the last of me, in regards to folding.

Now i can't wait to get a full night of sleep in a colder silent apartment. Haven't had one of those in about 2 month when i was home.

I have a goal that next year, that i will produce 200M during the folding month, hopefully with the new Nvidia Ampere gpu's.

Not bad, 213 pages of posts on the forum to go with our epic climb in folding points.  :)

Dang, while I wasn't looking a lot of the prizes got clamped down to only the top 100, which I'll never make it into.  :(

Yeah I must admit when I saw that, I thought surely that goes against the spirit of the event. For me at least, it seems like the emphasis should be on the number of people involved, rather than just big production numbers amongst the top producers (not that those people aren't amazing :) ).

And anyone with an average gaming machine/GPU who commits to the event, should be in contention for at least the majority of the prize opportunities. These events should be about encouraging more people to take up folding, and maybe those people will go on to become some of the higher producers down the line.

147th, not bad with single reference style gtx 1070. On average it produced 724k PPD. And maybe now after almost 12 weeks of running F@H 24/7 I will finally use my "new" GPU for gaming ?

Pause command should just pause WUs like on windows. Finish command is what he is looking for I think. But yeah, "FAHClient --send-command help" or "./FAHClient --help" (as you noted) will give him a lot of useful info.
