I just finished a playthrough of the demo, it looks pretty good. I get 60ish FPS at 1440p on my 2080 with the resolution scale set to 90 and medium GI.

Looks AWESOME. I noticed the minimum requirements are to have a 2080. Which SUCKS.

If you mean performance will suck I'd agree, but I wouldn't call it a nerf which to me is an intentional crippling of performance.

but what kind of CPU and memory do you need for 1000+ fps?

1080 Ti: Peak 59 FPS at 100% resolution, or 171 at 50% with most settings disabled. Almost playable if you have near-CRT quality.

I just got a problem with them saying windows is pc. linux can be to just say windows not pc.

You do have Tensor cores and a ton of CUDA cores so that's as good as it gets without actual RT cores.

 

but I wonder if OpenGL just benefits your card a lot since you get Quadro driver support for OpenGL?

The V actually can get GeForce also. I’ll try it later tonight, and see what it manages.

 

So far not had any issues with other games, but might try the GeForce game ready stuff for the RTX support, and this.

I know you get Geforce experience stuff with Geforce drivers (shadowplay, ansel etc), though for performance I dont think Quadro drivers will be worse at all.

Went to steam reviews and saw a bunch of configs from high end with RTX 2080Ti that ran like dog poop to mid-range gpus that ran without any problems. so is the game really not optimized or the problem is actually existing between keyboard and chair?

Not a lot, it is a VERY old game.

 

On my 2070 I was seeing around high 30's fps default settings at 4k, going up to near 60 at 1080p. 

 

On my 1080Ti, it was 9fps at 1440p, 15fps at 1080p.

Phones can probably crack 1000+ fps with relative ease. We've hit 60 fps in Quake 3 on mobile hardware a very long time ago.

So I installed the latest Game Ready drivers, specifically for RTX Quake II. My Titan V struggles outside of the tiny normal window mode.

Window Mode = 64-72FPS

3440x1440 = 13-16FPS

Seems this is tailored exclusively for RTX, and not DXR ray tracing.

I believe the game is using Vulkan with NVIDIA's RT extensions.

If you already own the game it's a free upgrade, otherwise it's just the Demo.
