For everyone asking ng why the epic launcher is so bad. Here's a list of missing features as compared to steam.

The game will also be available on PS4 and Xbox. This seems to be just Epic trying to gain a better foothold to compete with Steam. Many games are also moving platforms due to the reduced cuts that Epic takes.  I think that I’m not going to buy the game anyway, mostly because I don’t have $60. I do see how this could upset some people thought. What are your thoughts? Is it a good idea to have exclusive 6 month contacts like this?

I've made a resolution. I'm not buying ANY games from Epic Store, especially not those that are exclusives. It doesn't matter what it is or how big of a fan I am of those series. I'm not gonna support bullshit business practices. I despise them so much I doubt I'd even buy Unreal branded game if they released one now. And I used to be a huge fan of the game and its engine for years and years.

If a dev decides to sign an exclusivity deal with a platform that I don't plan on using, it's clear that they don't want my money.  So it's okay if I pirate it.

 

(not that I have any interest in this game to begin with, the above statement is merely my general stance on this whole Epic Store exclusivity bullshit)

For the moment the only misgivings I have with Epic games is Tencent and by extension the Chinese communist party, which will remain a concern as long as there is potential for access and sway to be held over EPIC.  Couldn't care less if its 'exclusive' to one launcher over another on PC otherwise, nor can I blame devs/publishers for working with a storefront that allows them to get a larger piece of the pie over another.

Do not understand the loyalty to steam people have when shrieking about exclusive non-exclusives like this.  Its on PC.  PC isn't locked out.  Most of the uproar stinks of Valve propaganda making use of useful idiots to charge hills for them and Gabens profits.

This is mostly my concern, Along with their severe lack of willingness to add features/update the launcher.  Its lacking features it should of had at LAUNCH.

There very much is a difference. To me, there are a few points to it:

  • I prefer to have a single launcher for my games, it's inconvenient to have it fragmented. I can deal with it for stuff like Battle.net, but when they get aggressive it becomes a problem.

This statement makes me laugh. Yep buying on a shit launcher with no features and questionable security is the same as using one with lots of features and much more reliable security. Sorry but I am not going to risk my credit card or account hacked by using epic launcher. Also if they just fixed their issues and created a good platform then people should use it instead of bullshit exclusivety practices.

Agreed. It's annoying to have literally 6 Launchers for 6 games. 
 

Where you have to add friends and then have trouble adding them or inviting them to games.

 

However, I feel like these other launchers download games better than Steam does.

For me it depends on the launcher. Battlenet is the fastest for me steam is second not being too far behind and origins is the slowest with speeds being very slow at times.

Maybe its just a placebo some of the games also are playable after a certain percentage, I dont think steam has that unless there's a launcher within the steam game.

Steam always saturates my internet connection. I haven't encountered a lot of other programs that do that, game client or otherwise.
