Games today

Who here does not play any games that are released nowadays? I don't find them interesting and fills with micro transaction. I prefer games that are in the late 2010 and so on in the 2000s.

Most modern games don't interest me at all. But I did recently get a Nintendo Switch and have been enjoying some of the games on there

I generally tend to avoid DLC of any kind, unless I thoroughly enjoy(ed) a game.

I can see some Mario games on the Switch can be pure clean. I also kept my PS3 games and certain classic games on my PC as well

I kind of agree, after having a blast with the DayZ Mod and Battlefield 3 back around 2012, there hasn‘t really been anything that got me hooked to the same degree. The Switch does have some nice games, but nothing to really replace my multiplayer FPS addiction from back then.

 

Maybe it‘s just me getting older though, who knows.

Also gave Flatout 2 another shot which was great.

Gran turismo is a good game. 5 is my favorite

Yep, I basically just play Nintendo emulators with the occasional Garry's Mod/CS:GO/Minecraft here and there. Honestly in 2018 I've barely touched a game. Pretty much any free time I used to spend playing games, I spend working on them.

2000-2010~ are my favs. I am going to play metro exodus but I book up halo 1-3 every now & then. I play Dawn of war, counter strike, fallout 3-new vegas, stalker, space marine. Arma 3 is 2013 but still kinda counts. 1997/8-2013 is like the 2000-2010 era as there’s some bleed over. 

 

FNV is my top played game at 183~ hours. 

If ps3 kept track of hours, I’d have like 500~1000 in fallout 3.

I'm not anti-new games, I wouldn't bother with a gaming PC if I was, but have have been playing almost exclusively retro games for the past 6 months. Nothing new is tickling my fancy.

 

I'm currently playing Zelda 2, on the NES, and Rouge Squadron 2 on the Gamecube. Come on Rockstar where's the PC version of Red Dead 2?

They had a contract deal it was only for console.

I agree as well, the difference is back then games were released complete. Now we have Patches, dlc's and micro-transaction which wasn't a thing with last gen consoles.

I don't like recycled IP unless it's something seriously good.

I don't go out of my way to avoid new games but I've been more focused on the backlog lately and tend to grab the newer games after they've been out for a year or two when they're cheaper.  I do love going on retro kicks once in a while as well.

The Only game I bought on launch in 2018 was Battletech. Not a AAA game. 

 

On the Black Friday sales I bought:

Final Fantasy XII. I bought it for Nostalgia. Will be playing it.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag. I liked Assassin's Creed Origins. Will be deleting it.

Ghost Recon Wildlands. For the single player. Will be deleting it.

 

Most of the time I play my heavily modded Skyrim SE & Fallout 4.

 

In the 80s and all the way up till around 2012 I bought at least 3 games a month, either console or PC.

Now I have a Xbox One S under the TV but it has not been turned on since 2016. My PlayStation 3 is only used to play Blu-rays and it has been at least a year since I did that. There was a time that I would buy a console just to play one game.

 

I am still hoping next year will be better a year for the types of games I like to play.
