PSU Tier List [OLD]

Go to solution Solved by Spotty,

This is a legacy list. It is no longer being updated.

The new PSU Tier List can be found here:

I ... I did it!

Am I a wizard? All cables and the unused power cord and accessories and manual and how did I just do this?

Linus is my fetish.

Helllo, poor newb here. Can you please help me choose a PSU? :D

System: Ryzen 3 1200 (plan OC to 2.5), MSI RX560 Aero Itx, 3 RGB 120mm fans + stock cpu fan, 4GB RAM (planned upgrade future), 1 TB HDD

PSU within budget choices

1. Seasonic S12II 520W Bronze 80 plus

2. FSP Hydro 600W Bronze 80 plus

3. FSP Raider 550W Silver 80 plus

4. Silverstone Strider Plus 500W Bronze 80 plus

5. Corsair CX450M Bronze 80 plus

6. Cooler Master Masterwatt Lite 600W

7. Silverstone Strider Essential 600W Bronze 80 plus

8. Corsair VS 650W

9. Cooler Master B600 V2

The calculator says I need ~400W, and recommends 500W PSU.

My brother (software engineer) adamantly insist I need at least 650W+

I live in the tropics, and planning light OC', so the fans will be on more frequently.

My top choice is either no. 1 or 2, but am open to your advice.

@Azurestratos A 250w PSU would be more than enough considering none of those are demanding parts. The CX450m looks like the best option there (depending on price).

CX450M all the way. Calculator overestimates. S12II has no OCP, and Hydro has no reviews and is awfully suspicious.

Straight Power 11 review,  looks great on the 12v side of things (quad rails all with OCP and good VReg and decent (35mV or less) ripple) and has decent protections (OPP at 980w,  about industry standard) but the 5v and 3.3v VReg is ehhhhhhhhhh...

It feels like a top end T2 or lower T1...

Why not T1??
Fan is great, 'Wapanese' capacitors, Warranty conditions are pretty good. In some countrys you have a toll free hotline.

In others you still have a Hotline in german and probably english.

Review for the 750W version:

If it's as good as a Vengeance then I'll put it in there.

It put it in T2 because of minor rail Vreg, but the 750W review shows it to be insanely good.... Hmm...

If it's just one model that has T2 minor rail regulation, then I'd just go ahead and place it on Tier 1
