Something I just noticed and maybe a coincidence - when I left the F@H client choose CPU, I was getting jobs that would take between 20 to 40 Minutes to complete when I would get them (rarely). I changed the setting to 22 Cores - and instantly I got a WU that takes 2.5 hours to run and saw this entry in the log

14:47:10:WU01:FS00:0xa7:Reducing thread count from 22 to 21 to avoid domain decomposition with large prime factor 11

perhaps my config was oddball since I was getting small WU when I could get them?

as for temp using a stock cooler, the 2 case fans in front and the machine at 100% cpu 78c

VRMs MOS- 46c, PCH 47c, PCIEX16 39c, System 1 and 2 sensors, 30c and 35c.

my GPU is 66c with a high of 71c seen.

note - in basement with window open a little and it's cold down here so that may be helping.

Hopefully that change helps me get more WU consistently.

looks like it was a placebo, server still not giving WU most likely due to load

oh well.

has anyone updated their Geforce driver? there is a new one but I fear it may break F@H. has anyone installed it?

In a way, you should care about the bonus points.
The reason being, they exist because the scientists wanted to reward people who churn through work units quickly, so they can actually do stuff with them.
In that sense, getting a high point value means you do quick and good work which in turn makes the scientists happy. 😃

How can it be that some people are managing to get GPU WU's but i don't...

Mine is ussually the same log. witht he same IP's

But somehow i can not find the last ip on the server stats page. 18.218.241.186:80

https://apps.foldingathome.org/serverstats

Usually it works when it reaches another ip than that one.

like this, some hoursa ago:

Quote

14:54:56:WU00:FS01:Connecting to 18.218.241.186:80
14:54:57:WU00:FS01:Assigned to work server 128.252.203.10
14:54:57:WU00:FS01:Requesting new work unit for slot 01: READY gpu:0:GP104 [GeForce GTX 1080] 8873 from 128.252.203.10
14:54:57:WU00:FS01:Connecting to 128.252.203.10:8080

So i guess that 18.218.241.186:80 is not delegating WU's itself, but instead delegates the work to other assignment servers.

Might be the main control server your client connects to that knows about all the other servers with which to receive from or send to.  That IP isn't in the server stats list so that's my guess.  That or maybe a (work)load balancer?? (betting more on the first)

it's a bit random, when I notice that and the retry is longer than 10min, i manually pause it for 30sec then try fold again.

What I notice is that it get stuck in one server IP, I get better luck if on "re folding" it changes, with a bit of luck.

Interesting update over on EOC: https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/

LTT got a mention for the "Here's How YOU Can Help Find a Cure for COVID-19!" video.

More interesting is this bit from the F@H forums reported by EOC:

Quote

Here's a summary of current Folding@Home situation:

  • We know about the work unit shortage
  • It's happening because of an approximately 20x increase in demand
  • We are working on it and hope to have a solution very soon.
  • Keep your machines running, they will eventually fold on their own.
  • Every time we double our server resources, the number of Donors trying to help goes up by a factor of 4, outstripping whatever we do.

I find that if it sticks with one IP it was assigned to grab from and it can't after a "couple" tries I just restart the PC entirely to fully reset the client as I've had a few issues with restarting the client only.  Good news is that by the server stats page they are, as a general trend, consistently outputting more work loads as the day goes on. They were in the 40-50k/6-8k range and are currently in the 50-60k/~10k range.

So 11 of my 20 Ryzen 3900X rigs were running overnight, but as they're all headless Ubuntu 18 Servers, it's hard to check on their individual performance. Is there a software that can be deployed that can remotely monitor each F@H client, so i can view individual server performance and WU throughput?

I have basic server/hardware level monitoring deployed on the servers, so i can see when each server is folding at the CPU usage is at 100%. But it'd be cool to have some software that links up with the FAH client to give me individual performance figures.

Unless there's a site for that?
