Meizu is out, and has teased it's no hole phone. On the bright side: it's also notchless

On the rear there's a 12MP + 20MP dual camera (consisting of the Sony IMX 380 and IMX 350 AI sensors) while on the front there's a 20MP selfie camera. There's a Snapdragon 845 to power the Zero.

I'm a fan of the Vivo look, if it ends up being that stainless steel finish.

The Meizu is kinda eh. I mean, not much you can do, but with no ports they could at least have used an interesting material for the back.

 

I'm probably going to be one of the few people that don't really care about the loss of buttons. I mean, I rarely use the volume buttons, I use the power button only to wake the device, and honestly double tap to wake would work just as well. I give 0 fucks about the headphone jack. My main issue would be if it uses one of those piezoelectric screens. I'm not a fan of those at all, as most people can hear the conversation you're having around you. If they've sorted that, then I'd be fine with it as well.

 

I could see a lot of devices heading this way in the future. I'm surprised more don't use pressure sensitive sides like HTC.

I do wonder how one turns it on and off, though.

Once phones did what they were supposed to do (make calls), they had to improve on something. Plus, since you carry it around with you everywhere, it makes sense that design would be pretty high on the want list.

Rooting I don't see as a huge issue. It's not really a super common thing, so they probably don't care if it's available or not.

I am curious about the power button, too, though. It'll be interesting to see some reviews.

Wireless charging is veeery slow compared to charging through a cable. I just don't think I can ever imagine using a phone with only wireless charging.

Wireless charging isn't that bad if you get a wireless fast charger. It's not as fast as a super fast wired charger, no, but it's just as fast as a standard wired charger, which most people use and are fine with.

They are now, but this isn't a mass market device. Their Apex phones are generally a look at what could be in the future. More of a marketed concept piece.

No gaming, only used for snapchat, fb, instagram, messenger, etc.

It's an essential phone, so pretty lightweight software side.

It's up to 15W which is pretty good. I bet in a couple years it will be the same speed as normal fast chargers

With iPhones, 7.5W wireless charging is far slower than 5W with the stock adapter. And it wouldn't be much better for other wireless charging standards either. Even with far more wattage thrown at the problem to brute force the limitations dictated by physics.
