Why do you need an i7 then? There are plenty like the dell xps (overheats with high end cpu's), lg gram, lenovo carbon, hp spectre,...

If you want a nice decent laptop that will get you through the day the new hp envy x360 with a 4500u is plenty. The cpu is better than anything intel can deliver in the low power category and even competes with their big boi chips without any trouble.

yes, the laptop cpu is most likely heavily power limited so it can't stretch its legs enough to outperform a desktop cpu that can run at 3-5x more power

Origami Cactus reacted to Lord Vile in Question: Why do phones include dedicated depth and monochrome cameras when they can be baked into the main cameras via image processing?
Well actual hardware is always better than software faking the effect but they do a lot more than just take monochrome photos for example, which is why I don't watch MKBHD because he knows FA. Your phone can take a photo with all of the lenses and merge them together to get a better overall image, the monochrome works better in low light and can capture more details vs the colour lens so the phone can compare the 2 and use the monochrome image to see how it should process the colour image.

That card isn't a typical consumer facing model like ASUS' Strix or EVGA's FTW cards, it's a model meant to be sold in bulk to system integrators like Dell or HP.

Id get a nand ssd for boot.

Id probaby not get a 970, get a cheaper 500gb drive, the extra space is much better than the slight speed improvement.

Origami Cactus reacted to Korben in How should I partition my 1TB NVME M.2 and 1TB HDD
Since I don't own these games I can't confirm or deny that. What I read from a fast Google search there is more of a discussion about SSDs enhancing the performance/FPS of these games than loading times. Loading times are not mentioned very often.

Origami Cactus reacted to jaslion in CPU core problem
Your 4 core logic for rust doesn't work as well. The game will use 4 cores to the max and leave the other alone. Windows and other processes use the unused cores then so that they do not steal away performance from the game. So if you disable cores you will get less performance as windows and other tasks will start using the same 4 cores that rust is using.

You should uninstall ryzen master or reset it to default and then go into your bios and also reset it's default settings.

OK. That means there's a very wide spectrum to choose from
It all depends on what you like to watch, and which accents/slang are easier for you to understand. I'll fire a few from teh top of my head:

    Movies:
    - El secreto de sus ojos (Argentina). Good thriller, won Oscar to best movie in foreign language.
    - 9 Reinas (Argentina). Good ol' scammers movie.
    - Y tu mamá también (México). Sort of coming-of-age, road-trip drama, on the weird-and-savage end.
    - La Comunidad (Spain). Brilliant comedy.
    - Acción mutante and  El día de la bestia (Spain). Also comedies, from the same director as the previous one, but in a younger, more absurd/gory style.
    - Los lunes al sol - A great picture of the crumbles left behind by "industrial transformation"  in the late '90s.
    - Celda 211 (Spain). A prison action movie. Simple yet entertaining.

    Shows:
    - La casa de papel (Spain). I haven't watched this, but thought I'd mention it as it got very popular in other countries too (Neflix has it in English as "Money Heist").
    - Vientos de agua (Spain-Argentina). A mini-series following an immigrant family, intertwining the stories of the immigrant wave from Spain to Latin America at the beginning of the XXth century, and the reverse wave taking place at the century's end.

This topic is a couple weeks old but I didn't see anyone catch it. Leaked footage of BeatSaber 2, featuring full body tracking:

In all seriousness, it was just a matter of time before this happens. Ideally ads will be implemented as in-game billboards or other non-intrusive methods. However, I'm aware there'll likely be a few companies or brands that try to push it who will get some very negative backlash. Regardless, you can expect the community to come up with ad blocking tech for VR just like they have for regular web browsing.

Probably yes, MSI audio quality has been decent, and you can always get an DAC/AMP upgrade later on.

One thing about audio: I have noticed that the audio quality on the motherboard back ports is much better than on the case ports, so maybe plug your headset into the motherboard.

You don't need them. Most motherboards can adjust the speed of non-PWM fans anyways (even dynamically), but I do find PWM fans are capable of lower speeds.

im not familiar with music production and how demanding it is, but this is certainly an upgrade.

no, dead platform and the 8700k would not really be an upgrade in some cases, keep your current board or wait for zen 3 and check what it has to offer and decide if you want to move to a different platform.

You shouldn't even be considering Intel at all, let alone overpriced X99 CPUs from 5 years ago.

Get a Ryzen 7 3700X and a B550 board. It'll be faster than the 6950X and 8700K and also cheaper. Not to mention it'll run much cooler and use less power.
