Need help!! New build based on LTT 4K video editing build

Budget (including currency): 2000 Canadian dollar

Country: Canada

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: photoshop, video editing , some light gaming and some computer programming with java or python

Other details:

I wanted to follow LTT 4K video editing build, from 7-8 month ago and I tried to buy all the components. But I can’t find the motherboard listed it’s not available anymore. there are many many similar motherboards which has confused me🤦‍♀️ . I’m a photographer and a student so I need to have something on budget(2000 Ca or a little more) With the capability to be used for at least 4-5 years. I work with RAW images.
while searching for the motherboard I came across many comments which were saying that Now it’s a bad time to buy Graphic Card and Ill lose money... is true? I can wait for a month or so for my build if I can get better graphic card.... will other parts be cheaper too or it’s just the Graphic Card? I would appreciate any help, It’s my first time build and I’m really overwhelmed by all the similar products. Thanks a lot!

do you need it within the next 2 weeks? would recommend waiting for zen 3 and nvidia ampere if you are looking to build something high end

@OswinI can wait for 2 weeks but I don’t know about the parts being high end.
the build on the video was : CPU: AMD Ryzen 3600 6-core 12 thread. I couldn’t find the graphic card exactly like What LTT suggested so I’ve got something similar : Asus ROG Strix GeForce GTX 1660 Super Advanced 6GB edition GDDR6 HDMI2.0 DP 1.4 gaming graphic card. I don’t have any motherboard yet so I want to buy that too. Do you think I can get a better deal for these if I wait?

can you link the video? what i meant was, if you can wait, then you can save up and wait for the new ryzen 4000 series and rtx 3000 series GPU.

@Oswin thank you! The video is

so the motherboard won’t we be different if I wait ?🤔 I think I’ll wait for the graphic and cpu! I have bought the other parts in the video too, I can send them back and get new ones cause I just bought them and they are intact.

would recommend returning them, prices are different now (seeing that this video is made in 2019) you can get better hardware for the price.

Thank you 😊I’ll do that. I would be great if LTT could put an upgrade list for the parts so that unprofessional people like me 🙃 can rely on it. Cause it’s so time consuming and confusing to read many things prior to read an article which suggests parts 😁 to understand slight differences in models!

@Oswin Thank you so much 😊 I must check their prices in Canada cause usually it’s more expensive than US. I guess I’ll wait but Even with zen 3 and nvidia ampere still I don’t know the motherboard .

this list is based on the canadian PCPP, so yes these prices are in canadian. the motheboard i listed is a solid choice and does support the upcoming zen 3.

Sorry I didn’t know they are in Canadian. One more question how can I check that the components to see if they optimize each other’s functions? Cause LTT used some graphs to have the maximum benefits from the parts together... is there any website ? In case I need to change a part when it’s not available or in situations like this.

just ask here on the forum and people will answer. there are no "definitive guides", most people get their information and get up to date by studying the specs, benchmarks in games and software of the different components, reading and watching reviews from trusted websites/channels. there are a few lists on this forum for different components, like the motherboard tier list or PSU tier list I have in my signature, if you want to take a look. otherwise, feel free to ask any questions and the community will do its best to answer.

I wouldn't recommend these, they are very loud and should only be used in industrial applications (like large server rooms etc)

picked them because of the high airflow and PWM, but changing it shouldn't be a problem at all

i know, the specs look good, but 2000rpm fans are loud and mostly unnecessary for a home pc build.

I don’t know in this video or another LTT showed some graph to show why he chose a part and the graph showed this part works better for that specific build cause it boosts other parts/part of the build. I don’t know if it was speed or Sth else.

Thank You 😊 Do you think the other parts in this list change if I wait for zen3 and new graphic card?

if you wait, come back then and ask for another build. these parts are good and compatible with zen 3 and nvidia 3000 series, but i'm sure the prices for most of the parts will change by then and we might recommend something else.

do you mean how the hardware performs on a specific workload? puget systems does test on different hardware for different workloads if that is what you need.
