  1. Just going to add my own experience with mixed memory in a laptop here (see my sig, 8 gb and 4 gb sticks). It works great, until you close a program that causes the memory usage to drop below 8 gb, then it'll hang for about 20 seconds. Only happens when closing programs, never opening. I need the extra memory so I deal with it, but not recommended if you don't. I should definitely buy an actual 16 gb kit at some point.
  2. That poor drive, you monster. I'd expect dust will kill it pretty soon, although I don't actually have any idea how much dust it will take since most people don't try running drives like this.
  3. Just go to the electronics section of your local big box store. They'll usually have a variety of low end phones and you can easily choose what features are important to you.
  4. One Note is significantly more feature rich. If all you need is notes then Keep works great, but if you need what One Note offers it's not even a competition.
  5. Here's a list: https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/List_of_Wii_games_compatible_with_Classic_Controller From that list, the ones that stand out as being at least decent are Xenoblade Chronicles, Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Kirby's Dream Collection, Sonic Colors, Sonic Unleashed, and anything from the virtual console. Also both of the Super Mario Galaxy games, yes they use the wiimote and the nunchuk, but they can easily be played from the couch and imo are the best among all the games listed here.
  6. The port itself isn't damaged, it broke something made of silicon. Unless you're confident in your board level troubleshooting and repair and you have a donor board hanging around you should probably try to get a repair from MSI. Alternatively get a dongle.
  7. I don't have any numbers to back this up, but I'd suspect for a given price point you'll get a better mic if you go with USB instead of XLR + interface, just because the XLR interface isn't going to be just an ADC (analog to digital converter, you don't use a DAC for microphones) in a box like the USB mic. On the other hand, if you plan to get new microphones in the future you wouldn't be paying for additional hardware each time you did so if you went the XLR + interface route. I'd suggest checking out reviews, there are plenty of good ones out there. Another thing to consider is v
  8. Makes you wonder why there was 75 GB of apparently unnecessary data before now.
  9. I suspect it is the same issue, but the asker/answerer described it in a different way. Their problem wasn't that the function keys didn't work, just like yours isn't, but that the function keys for brightness didn't adjust the screen's brightness, just like yours aren't. Alternatively you can try this, but try the other solution first. It's a significantly more elegant solution if it solves your problem. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1045624/how-to-switch-between-options-in-sys-class-backlight-to-solve-brightness-prob/1045763#1045763
  10. You can try these changes. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1049681/ubuntu-18-04-cannot-change-display-brightness-or-wake-from-sleep-on-asus-rog-lap
  11. You can do a basic test of this by attaching your PSU and power switch to the motherboard and attempting to turn it on without a CPU. It should have some lights turn on. If nothing does yeah you probably gave a motherboard problem.
  12. Try putting the lever down and back up a few times. If that doesn't work, try gently pushing the socket back farther in the direction it moves when you open the lever. If that doesn't work you can try gently prying from a corner with your fingernail. If that doesn't work ???????.
  13. Everyone seems to think their news is important enough that giants like Facebook or Google will pay up, only to swiftly realize that no, they aren't that important. Maybe the USA could pull this off and come out with more than a half dozen news sites still standing, but even then I bet it would be a close thing. I don't even understand who is against the snippets this type of legislation tries to get rid of. I've never found a news article and not read it because I got everything out of it from the two lines under the link on Google.
