Looks nice, it will compete with Intels G4560. Looks like a good HTPC APU or dirt cheap entry PC.

i have seen lots of people here wanting a very low budget build and i couldn't recommend anything new that would fit their budget, and it's hard to recommend used and old hardware, but this thing fixes that problem

Dang Intel's lower lineup doesn't make any sense at all now. $55 CPU, $29 PSU, $29 Case, $38 SSD, $100 RAM still though

AMD are saying this is comparable to a G4560, so I'd expect the G5400 to be around 10% faster than the Athlon

For pure CPU the Intel should take an easy win from higher clocks, offsetting that is it also uses more power overall.

 

I'm not familiar enough with the GPU side, the Athlon is stripped right back so is there anything of note left?

 

Also, what is a typical price for the G5400 in the US? Looks like one seller is shifting them around $70.

Well then I hope its priced accordingly. If AMD did say that, then it will have to be a pretty low price, as the G4560 is available for $39.99

It might, but that isn't known for sure yet.

For GPU, yes. We could predict based on crippling further the existing Ryzen APUs and there is my concern, those aren't exactly high power either. I don't expect a $55 CPU to be a gaming powerhouse, but what you might do with it could be limited in that scenario.

One thing that always confuses me when looking at US vs UK pricing is the fact that we have the tax already included in the price, whereas in the US you have to add it on yourself

No it isn't hard to make an educated guess, but I try to keep things open ended, since things can always change.

 

That's why I steer people to wait benchmarks that align with their personal use cases.

 

Ya, I honestly don't keep track of pricing anywhere but Microcenter since they pretty much always have the best prices in the U.S., barr none.

In some states yes, but not all. Some states actually don't have sales tax. Some localities don't have sales tax. For me for example, sales tax is just the Federal and State, coming to 6.5%

On Topic: Yay!!! Ultra budget low end Zen Cores in an AMD APU.

 

Finally a competitor to Intel's pentium although at this price point I would have liked to have seen a really low clockspeed quad core like a 2GHz Quad core with no SMT for this price.
