Probable Nvidia 1100 Series Announcement Date

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-announces-geforce-gaming-celebration-on-august-20

Quote

Join us at our GeForce Gaming Celebration!

This event will be filled with awesome new PC games running on the latest GeForce hardware, cool stage presentations, food and drinks, and some spectacular surprises.

So it was rumored earlier that Nvidia was doing something for Gamescom. We now have an event name "Geforce Gaming Celebration" and a date of August 20th.

Seems like a likely place to announce Turing /11 series GPUs. Based on the latest round of leaks I would be very surprised if Nvidia trolled us, and lets face it. Showing the world some Cyberpunk 2077 running on Turing at Gamescom is some top-tier advertising and hype generation.

Damn and i just bought a 1070 FTW for $290 too.

That doesn't make it a bad purchase...

Plus the 1170 wouldn't be coming out until late Fall.

Shit in that case i can just SLI.

It's very, very rarely worth it to SLI.

Not really going to phase me TBH. I'm just going to get myself a second hand GTX 1080 and be fine in regards to 1080p 60fps gaming performance for another 4-5 years (my GTX 970 really suffers in some high view distance DX11 games).

Thos is how I feel although I'm on that 1440p 60fps mid-high graphics. I was going to upgrade to the TI so I can go high-ultra when I got my 1900x but that was when the rumours started about this next gen. So I'll wait and pick up the ti cheaper or if its a difference of only 1-200 I'll get the new card for the gddr6

290 is indeed not a bad price. But waiting just over 20 days for the next gen is very sensible.

And then the new cards come out, the rumors about the 1160 / 65 / 75 / 75 lineup are real with negligible performance improvements at premium prices and everybody starts buying last gen-cards instad (that magically are still largely available due to the piling stock over the last weeks) and prices go up again.

Betteridge's law of headlines.

Headline doesn't end in a question mark, and this is definitely the announcement date. You can choose to just write this off as a rumour but if you have been actually following the leaks, you'd know this is definitely it.

I put probable because the word didn't come from Nvidia but guess what, they don't just say "x date is when we'll announce a new gpu"

Depends on what you're looking for. If you're in for upper midrange to lower high end then no, waiting won't be worth it. Next Gen's 1070 equivalent will most likely be the 1160 which won't be out for a while. Availability is the next issue. If you're not aiming for at least a 1080 or better the ti waiting isn't worth it.

I want all dem grafics!     For real tho, I'm curious to see how the next gen will handle 4k on a single card. The 1080 and 1080 ti are almost there, But 4k @ 60fps+ would be glorious. As long as I don't have to sell a kidney for one of these cards...

I’d expect bigger jump than that. The ‘1160’ should end up approximating most closely the 1080, as the 1060 did the 980.

I've actually found a way to pin my two Titan X Pascals at 100% with gaming, recording, and streaming.  It's obnoxious, but I'm pushing them way past what NVidia expected.  Titan Xps wouldn't be enough of a boost to help.

I'm desperately waiting for whatever Titan X(next) is going to be.  But if NVidia follows the same pattern they did with Pascal, that means the Titan won't appear until around Christmas time.

Best bet is Titan V my dude, next titan wont be until post Turing, either Ampere or if Ampere is compute only then after that.

Titan V is useless for my needs.  The games I play scale well with SLI, and the Titan V doesn't (and won't ever) support that.  Also, you're speculating out of your ass WRT whatever the next Titan will or won't be.  My speculation is that there will be a Titan X(next).  We just don't yet know what NVidia will call it.  There's way too much brand recognition there for NVidia to just toss that away.
